[Windows 7] 2500k & X6 Bigadv Folding w/ Native Linux Client - Page 35

fahclient_7.1.52_amd64.deb
fahcontrol_7.1.52-1_all.deb
fahviewer_7.1.52_amd64.deb

Redhat / Centos / Fedora

fahclient-7.1.52-1.x86_64.rpm
fahcontrol-7.1.52-1.noarch.rpm
fahviewer-7.1.52-1.x86_64.rpm

so we still supposed to download v 6 something while there are newer versions? any tips im trying to setup someone elses guide and thats a no go its to confusing so i will try and follow this guide line by line but i do not understand why v6 if v7 something is out. I read everypage and it does not seem to mention update or grab v7 instead?

ok seems i cant even copy and paste or forget how using vmplayer, tools wont fully install something about a cd drive being needed or something so typing these commands is horrid and didnt work when i tried them so far

maybe someone could help me set this up via a chat program or something i only have 2 pms on this forum

ps - i included a umm idk 24 min folding linux event my first one i ever did it started a new project with 4 cores and would of taken 13+hours based on the 8mins per 1 percent... is this normal or was something messed up?

foldingattemptlinux1.jpg 215k .jpg file

double PS - is there any way to limit slightly the GPU usage my computer is basically unusable while GPU folding cpu folding doesnt effect anything and does not create teh heat that IBT or Prime does

as far as version usage goes: this is just an old thread, son. in terms of your reduced time, yes that is a little odd. If anything you should most likely be folding slightly slower due to the system resources used by the vm software. Unless you had been, for some reason, running resource heavy programs while folding before using the vm.

figured i would semi update my results so far

Hi ya'll I am about one week into folding along with my buddy and I just changed my i5 2500k @4.8ghz to also have -bigadv tag under win7 smp folding v7 and my scores or ppds as you well went from

7-13k - to - 10k-18k on my first ppd avg with new flag

i am doing proj 8004 (63, 29, 147) @33TPF i think

what projects or numbers are my goals to hit if i want to make the most out of my time folding with an i5 2500k @4.8ghz or higher depending on results i see.

next up is getting linux vm up and running...

ps - do i want to fold on my gtx 460 while running the win7 v7 SMP client as well or when i run the linux VM client and win7GPUv7 client or stick to just CPU 4 cores to the wall?

thanks guys

Interesting so thats what the BIGADV hoopla is all about according to the folding calc your PPD is around 40k with a finished turn in just under 80K for a 2 day EST project. Can anyone else confirm if this is typical results for such a project and speed at which he is folding?
