Lol, since when did stating that you are not buying a game on release day lead to piracy? Wow just wow.

See the little boxes on the bottom of the screen?
Those are called "hotkeys".
WoW may have more, but it's not like WoW invented them.

It really wasn't that difficult. You could gear your character up in a weekend if you were a tank or a healer. Then enter straight into raids.

Could have been done a in a few weeks honestly, maybe not heroic raids, but regulars for sure.

6 months was ample time to complete that.

Half the people commenting are ill informed and blowing electronic air. That's what forums are for now aren't they

Blizzard will begin to downgrade WoW playerbase regardless. They know this. Has anyone seen their 20 year anniversary video? Their new MMO when it arrives is made to "take over" for WoW. They plan on retiring it but they don't care if half of their user base goes to another one of their games. They just want to stay in the game with new ingenuity and development of fun games. AKA keep them entertained and always coming back.

Just because 20% of WoW players might mozy over to D3 doesn't hurt them. They still have those same users + any more new comers that realize that Blizzard has a great game "let's try their other games to see if their just as fun". Its about branding your name and getting it out there to a broader audience. Their realistic dream, I am sure, is to get ALL gamers to play at least one of their games in the genre that they prefer.

While I agree during his time frame (Burning Crusade Expansion) 6 months is doable for 1 character to achieve full pvp status and full raid status. It is not likely and he played such a minuscule element of the game you can't say he actually did all that WoW has available to players. He did what he said he did I am sure but again...2 elements of the game does not make WoW...its huge and there are a ton of things to do.

I agree with what you say perhaps I missed out on some things because I know my way around an MMORPG, but I spent lots of time doing PVP with massive block damage attacks (pre nerf) and max level weapon crafting to have the 8% fear resist sword to smash little warlocks to pieces. I also never once felt overwhelmed with the size of WoW as I have in previous games.

Just to stay on topic I still feel that D3 will be as much a threat to WoW as sony is to piracy.

Of course I know that SC2 is a RTS. The point was simple. It's just another Blizzard game. D3 is not in direct competition with WoW. People will try D3, very few will cancel their WoW subscription exclusively to play D3. The community will have to be WAY more developed than 13 year olds talking trash in chat lobbies. Also, from what someone else said, I really doubt Blizzard is going to intentionally turn people off WoW. It's a cash cow. Even if they lose 50% of their players and merge some servers, it's still a cash cow. The game is still just getting released in some countries. There's nothing to say they can't hold up two MMOs.

I'm onto SC2 now, so yeah, this will probably cannibalize players. Not that it matters to Blizzard.

Well, is Diablo 3 going to require a monthly subscription fee or not? Because they are different kinds of games, so I doubt there will be a strong effect on WoW subscriptions.

I guess time will tell.
