Insert Standard Attempt At Being Witty New Guy Here

Hello, overclockers!

I'm not an overclocker. Well, technically, I guess I am, because things in my computer are overclocked, and I made them that way. But I'm not REALLY an overclocker, ya know?

My system, below, is appropriately named "Baby Steps" because I'm at that early stage where I've never overclocked more than like 5% just to feel better about myself. Now that I'm just starting to begin to think about potentially becoming a bit more serious about it, there's a little area in the back of my mind that lives in constant fear of my computer going nuclear every time I nudge the numbers.

I have already found out that certain parts of my rig (i.e. the freakin' motherboard ) are NOT suitable for serious overclocking, but I was never too hopeful of joining the 4.0 Club on what is honestly a "budget gamer" build anyway. I started at 2.8, I'm at 3.2, and for the dollars I've spent I'll settle for 3.5 - and start a piggy bank for the REAL OC monster somewhere down the road.

I hope to learn much (more) from you crazy, crazy transistor sadists. Look for me asking all the usual beginner questions! (I promise to try really really hard to find the answers myself first, though.)

Welcome, You'll enjoy yourself here

You can only push your overclocks as hard as your hardware will allow, so if you've been testing by trial and error but still haven't been able to get to where you want then your being held back by hardware.

Also, when I was still using my c2 setup I was able to push a max of 3.82 Ghz, so unless you've got a amazing chip chances of reaching 4 Ghz are slim unless you move onto c3

Welcome to the FLAMING HUMANS!

Also, for me my baby steps were like those of a baby giant (you know, 20 foot steps, not 6 inches) as I took my first processor from 2.66 to 3.33 first day XD Never overclocked before either.

Anyway welcome to OCN. I am sure you will soon find this place to be home as much as I have.
