China's definitely headed in the right direction, and I think this is very true:

Thorium should be a huge part of our future, we just need to let it in.

Probably because we are ruled by the stupids, they are trying to put more reactors online at Bruce power, but everyone is opposing it. Just a little more info, I was getting my hair cut on Saturday, the Japan crisis came up, and all I heard was, "Radiation is radiation, we are all doomed."

Sorry, but....

People are stupid and ignorant everywhere, I wish people would stop saying this because it is a popular stereotype.

I can agree with this. No matter where you go there will be people who have no idea about the world around them.

But back on topic. These types of reactors have been in development for a while now. I know a few people who work at Oak Ridge and they were quite dissapointed when the US really stopped moving towards them.

Although...While they say "safe" nuclear exists, its exactly that, "safe." There will always be an element of danger when operating a powerplant. This method just mitigates some of the problems that exist today, doesnt eliminate them all.

This. Some idiots may be louder than others but they're everywhere.

So what we are talking about is like cheap/safe power which would last billions of years...

I could see why the Electric Co. or Mr./Mrs. Capitalist would hate this, truly...

There has got to be a reason why they abandoned this in the US, surely...

I can't think of any other reason than the Gov. not wanting cheap power...

Unless of course there is some major flaw in this power tech...

Something tells me we are going to hear more about this in the future...

P.S. Can we end the childish Idiot finger pointing game?

Agreed, they're just louder in America, thus fueling the stereotype.

I don't understand why people are so paranoid about nuclear energy now that Japan had a little mishap.

People die when Nuclear energy goes wrong but people die when Coal Plants go right. Coal is so much deadlier and harmful to the environment.

Canadas Hydro powered plants is the way to go in my opinion, unfortunately it can't be done everywhere.
