I don't understand why people are so paranoid about nuclear energy now that Japan had a little mishap.

People die when Nuclear energy goes wrong but people die when Coal Plants go right. Coal is so much deadlier and harmful to the environment.

Canadas Hydro powered plants is the way to go in my opinion, unfortunately it can't be done everywhere.
Hush
don't tell the public that, Wyoming one of the richest states in the US thanks to coal.

No. Thorium has a half-life of billions of years, but that's at the natural rate of decay. We 'only' have enough of it for thousands of years of power at current usage rates.

When it decays it only produces Alpha radiation. These can't even penetrate a sheet of A4 paper.

Although, it does produce radon gas. Which can be a little bit toxic.

In 100 years look how everything evolved . Now think about 1000 years . we are out of earth at this rate using moon as a launching platform . And will have another energy source by then.

Most of our uranium actually comes from within canada, we have a relatively cheap supply thus we use it, its also a very rare commodity... and most importantly atm we hold 8% of the worlds supply of the stuff, mostly located in northern saskatchewan and we don't use all of it, we sell a good deal of it.

It must be some sort of weak decay.

We also have a disproportionate online presence compared to the rest of the world (though that is rapidly changing). It's easy to appear as #1 when half the people voicing opinions are from the same country.

I think the way to go is with a diversified energy plan. Hydro and nuclear near water, solar in the desert, gas and coal in abundant areas, etc. Power plants should be built according to what makes the most geographical sense. We do that now, but inefficiently with environmentalists attacking entire sources evenly, instead of on a case to case basis.
