Go to windows/system32/drivers, add full rights to the host file, then open it with notepad. Windowsupdate borks the host file. There should be a line in there with some extra semicolons pointing to nothing. Remove it, save, and it should be fixed.
You should still be able to get an IP even if your hosts is screwed.

I don't know enough about windows and windows driver to be of any help if the problem is between your box and dd-wrt-2. And since your laptop can connect and make the jump form dd-wrt-2 to dd-wrt-1 it's clear the problem isn't between those two.

I'm afraid I have become useless here... sorry sir.
its kay, im useless in my own problem too lol

and yeah, the windows thing does make it LOOK like i am connecting to my network, but not making it out
this is not the case.

@ other posts:

resetting my dhcp server on my router will not fix anything, if you looked at the OP, i have tried to connect to different devices (effectively different networks)

i have already poked around my hosts file, i saw those semicolons, removed them, and it fixed nothing (i did this when i first had this problem... like last week...)

I've seen this on 3 systems directly after the latest update. System gets borked network wise. The time also gets reset to 2007. OP, is your time off too?

Have you verified that DHCP, DNS and TCP/IP services are all started in Services?

time might have been off.... not sure
it was correct-ish when i just checked (just a couple hours off)
but that's because i had it set to gmt-3 for a bit so it would activate properly (stupid enterprise bug)

i have also made sure all networking services are started properly...

I had that problem too on some systems here and it was the time bug and host file bug.

a dd-wrt router that wasn't connected to any other network (dd-wrt-2 when it had stock FW and stock settings, when it had a FRESH flash and 30/30/30 of DD-WRT, and after i have had it setup for my network... all same results... not to mention my own network)
let it try to get its own ip, didnt work of course...
didn't need DHCP, manually set my ip settings to what would be correct to connect to this router
i could not connect.

i tried THE SAME setup with THE SAME SETTINGS and the SAME ethernet cable on my laptop, it worked there.

also, about the time and hosts bugs... i have set my time to be correct, and my hosts is fine too
