Paracord sleeving: 100 ft not enough

Thread Starter
I wish I had done more research, but I've been sleeving my entire PSU and it turns out i've got 1.5 feet left and haven't even started the 24 pin ATX connector. I'm glad I splurged and picked up 10 feet of 3-1 heatshrink, though. Everything except molex connectors are finished.

My experience with it has been very good. Yes, it snags, but if you tape the pins with electrical tape, it slides on just fine. The only problem i've had is sleeving fan cables since those pins catch on everything. Taping the pins doesn't work as the tape gets pulled off when I try to sleeve. Without buying new pins, I think i'll cut the wires, sleeve and resolder together, unless somebody has a better idea.

I'll try to get some pics up when done, but I just placed an order for more paracord last night. Sleeving looks so much better than stock and i'm glad because it's taken me almost two days to get as far as I have.

EDIT: Here it is sleeved. Picture from Blackberry. I clipped off one of the Molex chains and the other I haven't sleeved. When I get my water pump i'll figure out the wiring then.

Use the internal nylon filament in the paracord and tie them to the loop in the fan pins. Then simply pull them through. That's how I've done all my fans in paracord (and I've done quite a few).

100ft of paracord and 4ft of heatshrink was enough for me to do the ATX24, 32 pins of PCI-E (4 x 8pin connector), and EPS12V (8 pin) on my Seasonic X750 PSU.

Then my suspicion is confirmed, i'm using way too much. I think maybe the paracord goes too far into the power supply.

I've done 4 pci-e, 2 sata, 1 EPS12V 8 pin. To be fair, the sata used a lot of cord since I didn't shorten it.

Thanks for the advice on the fans, i'll have to try that.

It could also be that your PSU cables are a lot longer than mine, but I kind of doubt it's THAT significant.

I used electrical and painters tape on mine, has to be a small enough to cover just piece it over the sharp edge don't wrap it around a bunch. I have done fans also.

That's probably the only advice i can give on that.
