How should I run my loop?

I'd like to know if it even matters (performance wise) whether I run a series or parallel loop. I'd also like to know if there's any reason why I should run a tube from a radiator straight to my pump/reservoir; I could have sworn I read somewhere that it helps with performance, but I can't find the source to confirm that.

Anyway, I attached two photos to show you what the loops could possibly look like. The main thing I want to point out with them is that the first one (WC Layout 4) is in a parallel loop, and the second one (WC Layout 5) is in a series loop. Both layouts have the pump/res directly attached to a radiator as well.

Feel welcome to give me any kind of advise regarding how I should run my loop, and things of that nature. Here's the key for the photos:


KEY:
Red: Radiators
Blue: Pump/Res
Green/White: Tubes

Series.

In general your loop should be:
res > pump > rads > heat loads > res

You should always have the res directly before the pump, but you are using a combined pump/res so you dont have that issue.

The rad should go right before the heat load generally, but to be honest you wont see very much of a difference as long as it is in the loop somewhere, it will dissipate heat regardless.

The main reason I say series is so you get even flow to all of your parts. If you were to run your loop in parallel you wouldnt get the same flow to your CPU and GPU because one of them would have more restriction. Series is just easier to set up properly.

From what I've read and I am pretty much a noob to wcing myself having just completed my first loop, the order of componants will likely make less than 1c of differenace in your temps, as eventually the water more or less reaches equilibrium temp.

Not seen anywhere that advocates putting componants in parralel so I gues its either more complex than neccary or its not that effective.

Thanks for the help thus far guys. And lithgroth007, so with my series photo I have up, if it were to go by with what you were advising, the water would be running counter clockwise, right?

Also, what should I make the water hit first in my loop, the GPU's or CPU?

Yes, counter-clockwise. Although I dont know why you have the tubing leave and enter the case twice. You might as well have them leave once, go through your rads, come back in to your CPU, then GPU, then back to your res. Personally I would have the water enter the top part of the GPUs, but that may just be my personal preference.

Alright, so with all of that being said, I'd like to post 3 layouts that I'm considering (2 really ).

The first 2 obviously show that the only difference is where the res/pump is placed. The last one is setup I actually want the most. As a matter of fact, I'd go as far as saying that's what I'm pretty much going with, because I want the res/pump to be at the bottom, and because it's more aesthetically pleasing than the second layout where the radiator goes straight to the R/P; I just don't think it'd look really good if I had one, really long tube going across my entire board.

The only reason why I'm actually posting about this is because I want to be 1,000% assured by somebody that having my loop how it is in the third pick will in no way hinder performance in any significant way - at this point, I don't mind giving up the smallest bit of it for aesthetics.
