What heatsink/fan layout/TIM and case are you using?

EDIT: Figured it out. Slap an Arctic Freezer 7 on something higher than 95W and you won't go far. In addition, I'm pretty sure it's limited to mounting upward due to AMD stock clip. Your best choice would be to flip the rear fan and make it an intake, and give the heatsink some cool air that would exhaust out the top. Cooling can be an important factor in OC-ing, cooler Phenom IIs can run with lower voltage (hard to make sense of but true; I switched to this D14 setup, could lower 4GHz voltage by 0.05V)

IMO the AF7 is only good for dual cores. For quads and more it starts to get flaky.

Your 955 should be able to take you to about 3.9-4.1Ghz on air with a good cooler and good airflow. Maybe a CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ would fit your needs.

I ran prime95, so it would be at full load for about 20 min. The difference is I put my two case fans on high, but the CPU fan speed remains the same barley reaching 2000rpm. It looks like putting my case fans on high made my temperatures a lot better. Unfortunately antec didn't give me any fans in the front of the case for the intake. They made it optional, so I'm thinking of buying 2 fans for the front of my case to help reduce heat for overclocking.

Another thing i noticed is that my CPU volt says 1.48 when I haven't changed voltages in BIOS and even says voltage set at 1.4 on system information tab. Should I set my voltages lower than stock 1.4 to reduce heat?

If you're going to overclock, I'd recommend setting all of your fans on HIGH in the BIOS. Especially the CPU fan.

What speed are you at now? 3.8? My chip likes stock volts for 3.8ghz (1.35v). 1.4v seems a bit high for 3.8Ghz, but it could be on account of all of your heat. Alas, no two chips are alike. Turn those fans up and try again. Or try with the side off, to see if that has an effect--that might tell you if it is heat related.

I ran prime95 for about 10 min. Temperatures look a lot better. 4.0ghz looks reachable now. I went into BIOS and changed my CPU voltage to 1.35 (it was like 1.41 something for my cpu voltage), but strangely I got a constant 1.28 voltage when doing the stability test. And system information tab still says my voltage is set at 1.4. In idle it shows 1.33 for my voltage in the status monitor.

what temperatures and voltages should I not go above?? I already know that 62c is max temp and 1.5 is max for the CPU voltage.
