Toms clearly went mental because the gtx 470 is three way capable and is $100 cheaper than the 570.

They need to fire whoever wrote/benched that article.

I love how the ATI people like to cite how their nearly maxed out cards are close to Nvidia cards that actually can be overclocked more than a 100MHz.

I just wanna see benchmarks. I don't care if there's a card in the comparisons that's a £1m cheaper! It's all for the comparison! So, I don't get these guys that go "oh they're comparing a $100 card with a $400 card. Peh, what a website" because it, for me, is for the people with the $100 card, or a $200 card to see what their card does against a $400 card.

It's like if I had a GTX460 and they were reviewing a GTX570, it makes sense to stick a HD6850, GTX560, GTX580, HD6870, HD6950, HD6970 in there. Hell, even the HD6990. It's good to be able to get a scope on what you could have, or what you do have over the competing cards.

Daft buggers!

I've gotten to the point where I don't care about what benchmark reviews show for stock or some crappy overclocking... I use this place now as my "review site" because it's actual real world performance and high end overclocking.

The 6950/6970 are dang near maxed out from the factory. Many people can't even get a 100MHz overclock on theirs with air and it's a bit ridiculous to cite stock performance at a place called "overclock".

Based on review sites I'd have never bought a gtx 470, luckily we have a few members here who tested them and showed what they could really do and now I have a card I bought new for $185 last year that will beat a 6970 overclocked at nearly half the price at the time of purchase.

I agree, according to most review sites GTX480s in SLI is a disaster but I have had no issues with it.

Exactly who said what? I never said ATI cards were faster. Yes, they're close. Get over your self. They certainly win price/performance. To say the 6950's are maxed from the factory is just plain wrong. Most 6950's can overclock 100-150Mhz above stock. Both my 6950's can overclock 200MHz above stock.

Wow. So many NVIDIA fan boys.

I've owned far more NVIDIA cards than ATI. 6950 is my first ATI in a while. I went for best performance for the price. But you guys are just blinded by fanboyism.

Want a cookie? Good luck finding a new GTX 470 for cheaper than $235 now.

Considering there's only one 2x GTX 470 3DMark Vantage score on HWBot that beats mine. I find it hard to believe your claims. Oh, that score was LN2 cooled vs my air cooling.

3DMark Vantage scores are co-depended with cpu scores, it's not exactly the best place to start when comparing cards.

I never said they were close to max, I said they were near their peak.

$235? What luck, I found one on newegg for $210! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-157-_-Product

Enjoy the drivers.

I don't put too much stock in a single review but when Anandtech, Techspot, Toms, etc all have similar results its hard not to pay attention.

Whether you like it or not most of the time they are quite accurate and explain throughly thier testing methodologies/enviroment in the review. I will cross reference 5-7 review sites I trust and sometimes they can get segregated results based on drivers, patches and various differences but overall nothing to be worried about.

I know 6950's scale and perform right with or past 570's.
All the performance in the world don't mean a thing if a game glitches here, another one crashes there.
I dealt with enough driver issues to steer me from red to green. Thats just me though, and this was during the period where AMD released a new driver set it seemed every 2 weeks to fill in all the holes.

But that 6990 with 4GB RAM is ohh so tasty lookin!
