No video on new AMD build - Page 2

double check all the power cables
24pin, 4/8pin (make sure the clip is on the correct side)
8pin mobo connector is not the same as a 8pin gpu connector
and all drives and gpu

make sure the gpu is in the pcie16x slot closest to the cpu

also try with 1 dimm in the slot closest to the cpu

So, I put everything back onto the Asrock 870 and popped the Apevia Warlock back into the case and triple checked all of the plugs, wires, and there are no leaks on the motherboard. Now the thing turns off every 5 seconds now.

Don't know what the situation is, never had this problem. No video, now the thing turns off every 5 seconds lol

I'm starting to think it's the power supply.

Is it sort of like a "shuffle"? You get motherboard shuffles all the time when you're using cheap cases or no case at all; just my experience.

Could be the power supply, but you really ought to provide some info on the beeps. Unless you don't have a speaker, beep codes can be very helpful. However, if you're shuffling, you might not even get any beeps.

Best of luck to you. Troubleshooting is all about the process of elimination. "Shuffling" is not a technical term, so it could very well be the power supply. Otherwise, both your motherboards are kaput. What influenced you to buy an Apevia Warlock anyway ?

I didnt take a look at any of your specs because im short on time but you could be using the wrong DVI connectors, there are 3 different ones with different pins and i think 2 of them fit into each other but if your monitor doesnt support it, there will be no video output. I had that problem on my first ever build.

Yea, I think its the PSU. Might consider getting a PSU from Corsair or Antec.

I spent $125 on this Warlock, I don't see why I would buy another one now that I actually think about it. I tried using a different PSU, and still no video.

The turning off problem stopped, the 5770 wasn't in tightly, so I pinched it in a little more and now it fires up... it really isn't normal either. The 5770 sometimes, or well, most of the time the fan goes up 100%, sometimes, it is at 50%. I would know this because I have 3 5770s, the 2 for this new build, and it is very strange.

I actually got some video and was able to install windows 7, but I only got video when I actually forced the 5770 in, and really forced!! and it worked.

I went into the windows index, and had a 7.5 score on the processor and ram, they work perfectly. The video, was, 1.0... I didn't install the drivers yet, because I was getting no internet signal then, I restarted it and no video on both motherboards. I only got this video from the Asrock I purchased.

I tried 2 different 5770s, it really can't be the GPU's. The pcie slot can't be the problem either, unless it damaged my A880+ after I took it out of the Asrock and inserted it..but the integrated doesn't give any signal either.

I don't know.

However, both of the motherboards I have tried, shows no video, now. I even tried the integrated video on the A880+. It was working before I got everything and tried upgrading

I think I may just RMA the motherboard, and GPU's... but, the GPU's plastic is pealing horribly, I just had them out of the box for a week and just left them there.

I only purchased the apevia warlock because, it was the only thing that had 900w, and..I ordered a few apevia fans, so thought I'd give it a try. So far, I think it's great. I don't think this computer would even turn on at this point if I didn't have it lol

I am getting, no beeps, what's so ever.

Look at all the terminals in the power moldex that come from the PS... Make sure no pins are backing out of the 24 and 8 pin power connectors and vid card(s) power connections.

Sometimes the may not have been inserted fully into the plastic PS moldex and can cause an open connection when plugged into the MB.

I built an amd rig for my friend yesterday with the exact same problem. Turns out i had to use hdmi to get video, as the dvi's wouldnt work until i installed drivers. And since you have the same card as my friend, im betting this will get you video.

wow, weird problem...

-870 Extreme3 has LCD POST diagnostic screen, is it showing any error codes?

-make sure you have the proper number and placement of standoffs under the motherboard, and that none of the PSU cables are shorting on anything
