There is a better chance of me winning a Nobel prize for physics, then SWTOR getting released in April. Unfortunately.

I recommend playing skill based games, such as Starcraft II for example, where time put into learning and playing the game causes you to be a better gamer/quick thinker overall rather than just being a better Tauren Paladin.

On the other hand, while playing WoW you will have a blast, it's truly a great game. But once you get yourself to level 85 and start getting "bored" of things, you will entirely regret ever wasting the countless hours it took you to get to that point and you'll end up with the "I hate WoW" syndrome just like everyone else in that position.
The game is too easy, play something more difficult, play something with a storyline you actually give a damn about.

This coming from somebody who's wasted far too much time playing MMO's. FAR TOO MUCH TIME.

I played WoW with a friend for 1 month in Cata, I hit 85 in under 2 weeks with RAF, got bored, quit.
If you enjoy it, play it, if not, don't.

Think about yourself... do you have self-control? If you do, play it. If you don't, then get away as far as you can. It is an addicting game. I've played it only in the summer break times, and I would always quit when school starts. So if you have self-control, then go ahead and play it. I don't regret 1 second of my time on WoW, as it is a great game, and the community aspect of it is great as well.

This was pretty much my routine in end game. I never enjoyed rep grinding, dailies, or pet collecting. So I started alts to gear them, but then the time sink increases over weeks.

It just was to much and took up too much of my free time to sit afk in /trade.

It is fun for a while though, you should definitely try it out for a little bit.

Oh Christ. One post in and you people rear your ugly heads. You use broad blanket statements that could be applied to any other game out there in some meager attempt to make yourself feel superior for not playing WoW for whatever reason. I could say the same thing about whatever games you play. Time and money could be spent on better things.

You try to make it seem as though WoW is the only game that people go overboard on and try to imply that it has some sort of intrinsic addictive properties that no other game has. Just stop. You're trying too hard.

Stop playing, I played it for 5 years, messed up in exams because of it... it was terrible.

I now play Rift: Planes of Telara, it's a lot less involving, a lot more casual, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I don't think about it when I'm away from it, I play it for a few hours per week, nothing abnormal, I play COD more...

So, yeah, I'd suggest if you feel you need to fill an MMORPG gap, get Rift, World of Warcraft messes you up, cause it's too big, too long, too involving and guilds require too many hours of your time.

I think saying this people will agree and can relate to, at 85 (unless your a tank) you sit in a queue for 40minutes sometimes more to get into a heroic dungeon. At which point your paired up with some random people, sometimes they are good and a nice bunch but the majority have no idea what they are doing or have to disappear for a hour to eat or even just plain rude. You then think I wasted an hour on nothing, same with raiding just an endless grind for gear which starts off fun but after expansion on expansion its the same old. I used to really enjoy it but now I log on, get bored after one daily quest and log off. The auction house is filled with fish from people botting and same in battleground people using bots there too.

Many aspects of the game became too simple, gear seems less creative with lots of gear looking the same apart from the colour. I do have to say the ideas they are coming up with for guilds is great, but after years I have called it a day. I've started playing Rift and really enjoy it as many have said and its far more casual and your class can be so much more customised which is something I was after.
