Mom wants me to get a completely silent keyboard - Page 6

Those Apple Aluminium keyboards are possibly the most silent keyboard I've ever typed on. They're also relatively nice to type on, despite what some might have you think. You can get one of the wired fullsize ones off eBay for about $30.

At risk of offending the anti-Apple crowd here, I have an Apple aluminum keyboard (the tenkeyless version) and it's extremely quiet. Not sure if it fits your absolutely silent criteria, though - that's going to be all but impossible given the simple fact that you banging on the key is going to create noise.

the few times I've been in the apple section of an electronics store, I must compliment Apple on their keyboards...

if you aren't on a budget, mechanical keyboards are the most amazing thing ever and something you should take some serious consideration into. even with fairly noisy keyboards like the MX brown (which comes from bottoming out), you can get foam pads for your keyboard and it'll be dead silent, though i'm not quite sure about how much that would impact the feel of the keyboard..

the foam pads can be purchased from eiltekeyboards (not sure if i'm allowed to post links)
