But interwebs and getting into the details of your lowly canon rebel. Is your target audience going to understand what you mean? It's probably just space filler and I'm reading too much into it. I would recommend being a bit more professional; and stay away from geek speak
It's really just a space filler But I've updated to sound slightly more professional. Thanks!

Currently I use Gallery3 and with a custom theme it could look presentable.

Good job, that site looks like it would do a good job at selling your photos and services.
No, i didn't make it. I used a plugin from The Turning Gate for LR3 to make the site. I am no where near knowledgeable enough to come up with something like this.

Very impressive looking site though. As stated above, this should do a good job in selling your photos.
That's exactly what the problem is.. silly me

Your intent is unclear. Are you just sharing your passion with the world, or are you advertising your skills as a service?

You have your name in your site, and your 'about' section is headed 'about me,' but we don't know much about you other than you got your first camera in 2009 and have since grown into quite a photographer. Is this the only message that you wish to share? Your headings indicate that you want your audience to know more about you, but you don't share much. Is this intentional?

I like your design and layout. It's very simple and easy to navigate. Perhaps consider centering the image vertically in the browser window.

You have some very impressive work. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I redid all the photos without compression and some still comes out jaggy... I'm going to have to play around and experiment with it a little more to see if i can make it go away. Thanks for pointing it out nonetheless. As for my intent, it's meant to be a showcase for my work for the time being. Once i feel confident in myself to actually shoot for money, i'll probably redo the site to reflect that.

Change the cover picture on "Portraits/ Candids" to the second picture in the album, I think its a much better photograph. And change "Portraits/ Candids" to either "Portraits/Candids" or "Portraits and Candids" ("Portraits / Candids" looks weird to me, but you be the judge). Change the cover pictures of "Sports" to something else, that guy looks depressing. And maybe reduce the number of catagories maybe? Maybe People, Not-People, Animals, and Etc. Iunno, something like that, it feels somewhat cluttered with nine.

EDIT: Oh ho ho, I am stupid. I guess the pictures change every time you refresh the page.

I would think that this drop down delay can be a CSS styles edit feature, but since you said you tried I can only suggest you look again and see if there is a number in milli seconds attached to the drop down is CSS styles. Perhaps a spry edit feature. I have so far only worked with these features in a plug in sense (meaning the functionality was pre-created for me) but there were features like boarders and padding that could be edited.

ok i will tell you what i think, lol

  1. Home
The home page is nice but frankly it is lacking information. Most sites will indicate more than just having a few pictures cycle over and over. Since we are talking about the pictures transition, it is too fast and may need a little more delay, needs a smoother transition. The background color is ok, maybe a little gradient or something eye appealing because it is too plain. Header, horrible, i do like the simplicity of your name and text but frankly it is too small, too thin, and very hard to read, i had actually had a glare at first and had to move to the right just to see it. Your name should be a dominating factor in your site, and it is not. Buttons, horrible navigation at the top, needs to be bigger and serves a hard purpose to be small, condensed, bold and a serif at that matter for the size you have it. Now the bottom navigation is decent but for none of your pages as a large amount of scrolling so i see no purpose unless you plan on filling it with a lot of pictures or info. Back to the logo, i would maybe stack the name and photography underneath, move it to the left and raise the buttons and enlarge. Remove the bullet points, the are not usually used in the main nav. Back to your photos, you have what appears as a player with a bad white border around, no need for that and i dont know why you have it in a black box, personally i would leave just the dark grey background because the pics take away from the quality of the photo. Since you also have so much dark, try implementing some highlights, such as a while accent line bellow the silver line, you appear to have a solid black line trying to define the navigation but falls short because everything is so dark.
  2. Galleries
Now what throws me off the most about when you open the browser to max resolution, this is the only page that scrolls, and it only scrolls an inch or less. fix that by either shrinking the gallery or removing some padding or margin from the bottom between the navigation footer and pictures. Again, let your pictures stand out and get rid of the silver. Personally i would suggest some Jquery implemented better here, if thats what you are using. Delay the hover effect and get rid of the the white tint, it ruins the pictures. I would possibly get rid of the clickable area for more pictures. Maybe work on them all on that page with maybe a better player. Now when you click on a section, such as automotive, you have an awful thick border not once but twice! Why ruin your pictures with that? Also look into a solid structure of space so the transition is better and the pictures are not jumbled up together. Further more you have no indication where someone is and how to get back to where they where, bad design there. But honestly step back and look at it, you cant tell me that the pictures are justice with the white border.
  3. About
The about section is plain, look or google some photography sections, because this just looks plain and a lot of bad dead space that could be filled with better design or layout. Hell maybe increase the height. Now the white border here looks ok, maybe lower the thickness a little.
  4. Contact
Not bad, picture serves what purpose? Also, again, you have a black box in the background, lol

And i havent even looked at the code, lol. Just some friendly design tips.

three black background inspired sites that might fit to something similar of what you are going for:

site 1
site 2
site 3

(please exscuse the bad grammar, im about to fall asleep, goodnight )

It has a pretty nice, clean look to it.

The only criticism to the site I could come up with is possibly having more images to scroll through on the main page.

As for the photography, a lot of it is great from an artistic perspective, the other stuff is good "stock photography", Dont take that the wrong way, thy just dont stand by themselves imo.
