The Acekard is dead as of something like 10 months ago, there haven't been any updates, and no information regarding anything from the team.
I'm assuming that depending on the color of the 3DS XL that you get you will get a different firmware version (and also when the console was manufactured), the default 3DS XL colors should have a firmware old enough that the Acekard will work (depends on when it was manufactured) (but some games will require a newer firmware) but It's a safe assumption the 2DS will have a firmware that was released long after Acekard stopped patching.
It's just a much better choice to fork up the $40 for a Supercard DSTWO as it's better and updates are still rolling out every time there's a firmware that attempts to cripple flash cards, or for all updates in general, although you don't always need to update the flashcart.
The SuperCard DSTWO has all of the features of the Acekard and more, including an actual CPU to emulate Game Boy Advanced games, but you lose battery life because of the extra features, and if you're using the CPU to emulate the battery life will be even shorter.
The only downsides are it's $40, versus the other $20 solutions, and the battery life is shorter.
Edit - I also don't think we're allowed to discuss flash carts on this forum.Edited by Ascii Aficionado - 11/4/13 at 9:25pm
