[Official] Nintendo 3DS Discussion/Club Thread - Page 80

I had originally preordered both but the gamespot review said they werent as good as the original black and white so i canceled my White 2 preorder. Hopefully Amazon doesnt actually make me wait til friday when it comes out today. I need something to play on this $250 handheld with little to no good games.

Nintendo really shafted us early adopters with the lack of games and ridiculous initial price. I played OoT (required) and Mario Kart 7 and while they were both good games in their own respects i still feel cheated that there are almost no good games for the 3DS.

It also bothers me that White 2 and Black 2 are DS titles. Im really curious as to how awesome 3D pokemon will be. I hope we get them in 3D before the 3DS falls by the wayside.

You should play Resi Evil Revelations, I'm on my 3rd play through and I love it.

If it had Zombies in it you would swear its an old game, it's slow paced and plays just like the old Resi evil games.

You made a judgement on a game from one review? Ugh... I don't want to, but I'm going to go "Old Yeller" on you...

If you read their review youd know why i canceled one of the preorders. They even say the one thing that i feared the most about a numbered sequel, that it seemed too rushed and that not enough has changed to warrant another 35$ on each. Anything below a 7.5 is a no buy for me from Gamespot. Just the way it is for me. Its worked well in the past and i can say there are very few games ive bought that i regretted.

Its not like i canceled both though. If its better than expected ill see how i feel about getting the other one. There hasnt been a pokemon game in the series that i havent gotten. Aside from the spinoffs like mystery dungeon and whatever other crap theyve made. But there also hasnt been a numbered sequel in pokemon before. Who knows. They may be excellent, or they may be a terrible grab for more money.

Perfect example. The review from Gamespot gave White 2 a 6.5 where a more mainstream review site, IGN, gave it a 9.6. Pretty big disparity there if you ask me. Gamespot reviews it as it rather than how everyone wants it to be. I trust their judgment enough that a bad review will affect what i buy.

I wouldn't trust any reviewer that doesn't generally share my same taste in games. Meaning generic review sites like IGN and Gamespot are useless to me as they both try to hit as wide an audience as possible. There's nothing wrong with using those kinds of reviews as a jumping off point, but using just a single generic review isn't a good thing.

If you're always going though generic review sites, you'll never find the games you truly enjoy. Who cares if one review gave it an "ABOVE AVERAGE" 7 out of 10? (I could go into why review scores are screwed up, but that's not part of this conversation) Is it really going to kill your enjoyment of a game just because someone gave it a score you didn't want? I've enjoyed critically bad games and I've hated critically good games. Stop being a sheep to review scores and make up your own mind. Don't let Gamespot or IGN make it for you.

I don't quite think you understand what I was trying to say.

I'm not letting Gamespot make any decisions for me. They confirmed the main thing I was fearing when I heard the new games would be direct sequels with NUMBERS in a Pokemon game, the fact that the game is not a full Pokemon experience. It's watered down and dragged out. Same locale same crap. That's why I listened to their review, they told it like it was. And the fact that it's exactly as I feared it was going to be then that's where MY decision came from.

I didn't even read the IGN review but to see that they immediately gave it a 9.6 with no mention of the serious pitfalls. It's okay though, I know you think I'm a sheep when in fact I'm far from it. I don't even have an internet connection that can support the playing of such "sheep" games as CoD or BF3, where everyone plays because everyone else plays. I've never been one to follow the norm just because someone told me to do so.

Before making assumptions like that why don't you ask about how I got to my conclusion about the game before making your conclusion that I'm a sheep based on one review.

Had intended to, but currently holding off. As much as I love the Pokémon series I'm not going to jump at a pre-order this time around.. Pre-ordered Pokémon Black and White for me and sister, sister ended up not wanting / paying so had both and played both >w>;

Also, I'm hoping to get down to GAME on Friday (Yay annual leave days~) and see if I can snag two Keldeos ~ rolleyes.gif

C'mon Game Freak, give us a Gameboy-style game but with speeded up Colosseum-like combats biggrin.gif

That would instantly make for the most awesome Pokémon game EVER.

Because not enough 3DS have sold yet for it to be a wise economical choice for them.
The next one will be 3DS exclusive, and probably come in a bundle with a 3DS console.
