I love it. I think you will, too. I never played the original on ps2, as I had sold my phat by then since i had all 3 consoles of that gen, I just did without it. I missed Snake Eater, too, so it's awesome to be able to play those for the 1st time in 3D.

I love Kid Icarus Uprising, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Resident Evil Revalations (really love it), Cave Story 3D (only $9.99 in eshop now), NSMB2, Mario 3D Land, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, and some really cool Eshop games (Liberation Maiden, Sakura Samurai, Dillon's Rolling Western, The Denpa Men, Pushmo, & Night Sky). LOVING the 3DS!! I've only ever had a PSP, and it wasn't what I hoped it would be. I never had a smartphone either (but I did have an Ipod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB), so maybe that's why it's so great to me(?). I play it at home, so it's like a way to game while i'm laying in bed, lol.

3. It's a lot bulkier then it needs to be
4. The right side has both shoulder buttons, the left side doesn't, I know why from a design point of view but I also don't like it as it feels weird.
Had a quick go of Resident Evil and I honestly prefer the control scheme with a single stick
Will try MGS3 now
Yeah, I got mine on day one (3DS & Circle Pad), and didn't play much until the circle pad was out, and played MGS3D. I guess I got used to it all at once, cuz that game was great with 2nd nub, but sucked without it (for someone that's a Splinter Cell fan, until Conviction, and only played MGS2 prior). You'll get used to it. I like KH3D better w/o it, too. They don't give it enough functionality, imho. In Kid Icarus, it still makes you use the stylus, but you can just use the other hand to control Pit. ***? Wasted opportunity there. If they'd have made it part of the hardware, game devs wouldn't just tack on a few camera angles & call it a day. Bad design choice, and lost opportunity with the XL, imho, also.

BTW, I can't WAIT for Paper Mario to get here. I hope it's better than the Wii version, even though it's still less of an RPG, as there are no experience points, and Mario is solo through the whole adventure (no squad). It'll still be great, but i hope it's not too short (especially as long as they've been working on it wink.gif). I want Prof Layton (will be my 1st), too, but that Fire Emblem game looks so devastating, I can't wait to get my grubby paws on that (and Luigi's Mansion among many others).

I am thinking about trading my Dsi xl for a 3ds xl. Before I do,I am going to need some more info. Is the resolution better in the 3ds xl then the dsi xl? In my dsi xl, I see the pixels now.Very annoying.

And can I play my old ds games on it?

And can I play my old ds games on it?

DS = 256×192 on a 3" screen.
3DS XL = 400×240 (800×240 in 3D mode) on a 3.53" screen.

The DS games retain the same resolution as that's what they're designed to run at, they're only going to appear more pixelated on anything larger than the original DS screen.

You can stretch the game to fill the screen, or you can play it at a matching ratio that the DS had which will make it appear less pixelated but you'll be utilizing less of the screen.

Games like Super Mario 64 benefit from having an analog stick as well.

I'm told 3D based games such as Super Mario 64 don't appear to be as pixelated as sprite based games.

Since you own a DSI XL I'm told if you're picky about having the games look as they were intended to, then you should keep the DSI XL for DS games.

Picked up Pokemon Black Version 2 and quite enjoying it. The only DS/3DS game I have. Picked up the 3DS XL just for this game. I skipped Gen IV, but I've played Gen I - III, and now V. Very enjoyable game with a lot of content. About to challenge the Pokemon League. I've noticed something though, I feel as if the game was too easy? I beat about half the game with my Crobat, then the other half with just a Crobat and a Haxorus. The only person I had trouble with was Cersei or whatever the ultra scientists name was lol.

Hey everybody!

I figured I would forego making a new thread about this and just ask here.

I have that itch and am thinking about picking up a 3DS XL. I want to complete my Zelda repertoire, having only played the console versions + gameboy advance ones. Heres my question:

How do the gameboy advance games look ported over on emulators? I have a good number of advance games sitting here, so Im staying legit and only playing ones I have (I really have a hankering for final fantasy tactics advance but playing on the non backlit screen is atrocious)

Also, is the xl worth it? I got a BB gift card and they are selling them right now for stupid cheap.

Added: Will DS games like Phantom Hourglass still look ok on the xl? I read the post above and it seems they are a bit wonky

Xl is very worth it considering its not that much more then a reg 3DS. Also DS games look fine, they run at there native rez anyway so its really no different then playing on a DS....just good so you have the 3DS so u can play those games too.
