warning to all, gts 450

I hope this is appropriate, just sharing my experiences.

I have a palit gts 450 standard edition. It is exactly the same as the palit gts 450 sonic platinum edition apart from the sonic platinum has 930/1000 clocks vs 780/900 of the standard edition (I think those clocks are right) so I decided to flash my card with the sonic platinum version BIOS.

First off this did not work at all and caused major graphical glitches so I reverted back to standard.

As a second try I decided to modify my original BIOS with the higher clocks and flashed that.

At first this seemed fine until I ran windows experience index and my comp locked up!

I reflashed 100 times (not literally) and finally realised that even my stock BIOS was causing an issue.

After this I realized it was not a BIOS problem.

I uninstalled a couple of programs and reflashed my overclocked BIOS and all was fine!

So obviously this was some sort of driver issue with software I was using.

I uninstalled vtune that I got from palit website and also atitool that was recommended for artifact scanning so obviously one of these 2 programs was causing the issue.

I don't know which of the 2 it was but I'm just posting this so if you experience similar issues please try uninstalling these applications first before troubleshooting other things as I don't want you to waste the time and effort I did.

I hope this helps someone and isn't just another junk post

You're probably flashing unstable clocks.

I remember ATItool messing with stuff some years ago. To confirm you would have to prove that the new flash was stable, and maybe reinstall those problem programs and see if it acts up again.

But good to know if those are causing issues with this sort of thing.

Definately stable, as I said I had problems with default clock settings!

Will double check which program was causing issues when I get home from work
