Make a backup, flash the CM7 nightly #28 from HERE and the download LauncherPro from the market. Replace the shortcuts at the bottom with what're listed as 'default icons' and you'll have (see attachments)

Some people love Sense but, I personally couldn't stand the keyboard or the launcher at the bottom to open phone, text, contacts, yadda, yadda

But, I think CM7 is pretty dope because it has built-in usb tethering -and- wifi hotspot!! Among other bacon.

Nope, if you want to go gingerbread now you'll have to use a port. If you are staying stock no dice until HTC decides to update (which could be never).

I hated AOSP roms for a while... then a few months ago I suddenly hated sense. Switched to an AOSP rom with launcher pro and I couldn't be happier.

Why are you telling him to run a nightly? CM7 is onto RC2.... plus usb and wifi tethering were included with froyo if my memory is correct.

Trust me, I ran LauncherPro w/ Custom ICONS all the time for any build. Here is one of my older screens I still run but different ROM now

RC2 is old news. New developments have been made to make CM7 more stable since RC2 was released, hence the nightlies. They're updated with all the latest and greatest. Sometimes, I even compile my own build and pull all the source from the git repo, making it even newer/yet more buggy-ish, although its so late in the game CM isn't all that buggy.

Disclaimer: Yes, I'm a CyanogenMod fanboy. No, I don't like HTC Sense.

Ah, so CM is still having nightlies released between the RC's? I've never used CM so I have no idea how their releases work...
