With my RAM @ 1333 I get 7.66, and a 7.86 score with the RAM @ 1866.

It's like this. WHen a 2500K beat a 970. Nothing matters. If a 970 beat a 2500k, there's a lot of excuse. You have 2 more cores, it's this. It's that. We're you running 5Ghz? I just ran 4Ghz to be fair.

Considering we're talking about $225 vs $600.

Plus, it all boils down to what your uses are, most people get the 2500K for gaming purposes, and in that case just look at the World of Warcraft scores, it's 20FPS difference. Everything else they trade blows. Plus the 2500K doesn't even have HT, yet it's holding its own.

Look at my sig rig, I'm not an SB user, but I can't deny the fact that it's a great chip for the price.

I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge personally.
Unforfunately it does? My rig just ate a 2500K. @5Ghz.

In Cinebench, where you're using 12 threads vs 4, if it didn't then I'd be royally disappointed in your $600 chip vs the $225 chip it "ate"

I'm not saying the 2500K is better, because those 12 threads are amazing when it comes to rendering, encoding, etc, but seriously, you can't deny that it's not a great chip, where it's trading blows with the 970, and often besting it.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=157

Well actually, you can deny it, since you own the 970, so you have a biased opinion in the matter.

The 2500K is mainly use for gaming rigs, for rendering / encoding, the 2600K is almost half the price as the 970, and well....

Unless you bought it used, or got it from the Intel Insider service?

Most people don't have access to that service, and even if they did, they have to earn a TON of points to qualify, it took my sister like 4 - 6 months to accumulate the points needed. The Intel Insider service is pretty irrelevant for most people and you know it. Anyway, I'm not getting into this debate, it's not really productive.

Yeah, You don''t have to go into this debate. Just admit that 2500K will not PWN a 970. Maybe a 2600K. But I highly doubt it

The 970 will be as good or slightly better in the 0.04% of software that actually uses 12 threads.

For those that use 4 or less the i5-2500k will roflstomp a 970.

If that's what's going to end this, sure, the 2500K will not PWN a 970, it will however trade blows with it, and it's overall better for gaming rigs. If I was in the market for a new rig, I'd pick a 2600K over a 970 without even thinking about it.

Yeah I got my mobo but it was broken on arrival (also it's B2).

The first two dimm slots won't allow it to post so I have to use the last two which isn't dual channel and my ram speeds are pretty sad.

I just bought another gtx 470 off a user here waiting for that to arrive before I contact ASUS about an advanced replacement because they still have one of my AM2+ boards that I sent back in November of 2010.
