What RAM would you pick...

Thread Starter
I have 2 sets of RAM.

1) OCZ2P10004GK PC2 8000 Platinum XTC 5-5-5

2) G.Skill F2-8500CL6D-4GBNQ

Both of these are 2 sticks with a total of 4 gigs of ram.

What is the better ram to use?

Thanks

G.Skill 100%
DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

OCZ is going under also, so I would sell the OCZ before it ever errors as you will not get warranty out of them eventually.

Why is OCZ going under?

So you still say g.skill is better overall or you saying that because of OCZ going under?

No seriously the G.skill Its actually FASTER ram and a better company.
DDR2 1066MHZ (PC2 8500)

Vs

OCZ 800Mhz

OCZ was sweet back in the DDR1 days but OCZ DDR2 and DDR3 fell off the map. Currently OCZ is slowing production on RAM and will eventually stop all production to focus on SSD HDD's

I know G.Skill is a good company but I remember ocz being good back a while also is why I grabbed this ram for cheap. Just never knew they are going out of business.

They are not closing shop completely, they will just be focusing solely on SSD's and other hardware? but when they stop production on RAM I wouldnt hold my breath that they will back up any lifetime warranty claims.

Thats just a little bit of FUD isn't it. Either ram is fine. Unsurper, I take it its not for the rig in your sig?

They will most likely back up lifetime warranty claims although it will be via 3rd parties. If the company hasn't gone bust they are still bound by any warranty agreements regardless of whether or not they still produce the product. In fact if ocz went under and was bought out the purchasing company would be legally obligated to honour the warranty.

But yes the faster gskill ram is better

Na not for my main rig, I'm building my girl a rig for gaming, so not looking for the newest tech just something cheap and will work, and she does some autocad so I am grabbing a chip that has a good cache.

I just wanted to see if any pro's and cons to the RAM's

I have a nice timing set F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK 5-5-5-5-15 but I'm going to put that either in my girls rig or my second one. I got the OCZ ram with the GA-EP45UD3P motherboard and wanted to know if its better then the other ram I I got.

So I got 3 sets of Ram from other trades and I know for a fact my G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK is the best set out of the 3 just wanted to see how good the OCZ was sinse I haven't dealt with them in years.

SETS I GOT ARE:

G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK 5-5-5-15

G.Skill F2-8500CL6D-4GBNQ 6-6-6-18

OCZ2P10004GK PC2 8000 Platinum XTC 5-5-5

Thanks
