Thats ok if I need to reinstall W7, don't really mind.
I don't really care if I am able to overclock heaps on the CPU because from experience the GPU is what bottlenecks me. So I would be happy if I can overclock just a bit on a 2400 or 2500.
a 2.140 rad wont cool your gpu AND cpu very well.
would need atleast a 3.140 or 3.120 rad or more

if your not overclocking go with a 2500, and dont worry about watercooling for now.
that gpu should be fine with just about everything lol.

illd save up the money and buy a nice watercooling system, and just get best comp you can with air cooling for now
if your not overclocking not that much point going to watercooling.

Ok so I think I'll get a 2500, 6870 on air and then get wc later on. What if I get a dual 140mm + a single 120mm rad? Because if I get the HafX case I could put the dual at the top of the case and then the single down the bottom.

Corsair Force 60GB - $143.00
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ - $56.10
ASUS HD6870 - $261.80
Corsair HX850 - $225.50
Corsair Obsidian 650D - $218.90

$1478.90

Swiftech MCP655-B 12v Water Pump - $89.95
EK-Multioption RES X2 - 250 Advanced - $55.95
Black Ice GTX 240 - $90.95

$416.75

which leaves you with $104.35 for tubing, fittings, fans, etc.

i'm not the best to give advice on watercooling, as i've been "out of the loop" (pun intended) for a while. but, i think those parts should hold up pretty good, and hopefully someone else can shed some light on the topic.

Cool thanks, I like that mb. just wondering, can I fit the radiator inside that case?
I'd still like to have the HyperX RAM because it would go nicely with my colour scheme so not too sure which I'll go with. Or I might change it to the blue version of the Vengeances.
I live in Adelaide

Why can you get the 6870 (or other GPUs) in such vast price ranges? There's one for $219 and then there's one for $299 (aud). Is it just the casing and cooling or is there more to it? does it make a big difference?

welcome back from camp how was it?

yes, the corsair 650D will fit a 240mm rad at the top above the mobo.. make sure you get the 1.5v hyperx kit. i'm all for colour schemes, but either way, whichever you like more will be fine. if you can spare an extra $60~ you can get a 6950 and unlock it to 6970.. something to think about.

the price of products varies due to a lot of different reasons.. it's brand name, special features ie. non reference design, custom cooling, voltage control, warranties etc. ..depends on how you look at it and if it makes a big difference to you.

Thanks, it was ok I guess. I think I'll stick to 6870 because I've heard there are some issues when unlocking the 6950 to a 6970 (i think).
Have you got any ideas for monitors? The 120Hz ones are so expensive. I found a 23" BenQ full HD LED, 120Hz, 300nit, 10m:1, 2ms for $500. I wasn't planing on spending that much for a monitor but I think I should really go for a 120Hz.

up to you.. i think the benefit outweighs the risk.
just make sure it's a dual bios card, avoid msi and powercolour and you'll be sweet. i just flashed two xfx 6950s today, no problem.

what will you be using your monitor for? any particular reason you're after a 120Hz monitor? have a look at the dell U2311H for $299.. i think that's a great deal and it's an absolutely beautiful monitor.

I was going for a 120Hz because I don't see much point in getting a good GPU that can reach 100fps with a 60Hz monitor. Also, with the Dell monitor it says 8ms rt, isn't that a bit slow for gaming? I was hoping for 5ms or less.
This is the one I was looking at, it has plenty of good reviews, but it is a bit much. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16166

I suppose if I find one that is 300nit brightness, 5ms or less response time and a good contrast ratio with 60Hz then I'll get it if it has a good price.

I'll take note not to get msi or powercolour. Would this 6950 be ok? It says 1GB rather than 2GB like on the 6970 and other 6950s.

entirely up to you and how much you're willing to spend.. if you're a professional gamer, really nit-picky about certain things or want to use 3D, then go for a 120Hz monitor.
otherwise, i'd choose an ips panel over tn any day. since you're doing photo and video editing, colour accuracy should be an important factor; again, really depends on your wants and needs.

if you see a big difference between 60fps and 100fps that also would affect your decision. imo, 8ms isn't too slow for gaming and you won't see ghosting, especially on a high end panel like that.

that 6950 wouldn't work. make sure it's a 2GB version with dual bios/the early revisions.
