Where is Jolicloud control panel

Thread Starter
I'm trying out joli on my netbook and am loving it so far. Feels more snappy and responsive than other os's i've tried.

I did have to change something to make right click work, but that is fine for now.

My question is, where is the control panel? I can't find anywhere to change the settings, such as mouse sensitivity, display resolution etc..

I have seen that for others local settings is located in the apps section but I don't have anything there. I am able to bring up a terminal window, so is there a command that l will open up a gui so that i can change system preferences? I'm using joli 1.2 i believe.

Boy I feel out of the loop. I thought Joli had died like most of the other netbook only distros.

You have a screenshot? Maybe we can guide you from there. But I know someone has to have had first hand experience with it.

I've never used it and have no plans to ever use it.

After a (not very) lengthy Google search, I found this comment buried on someone's blog:
Quote:
Adjusting the system via traditional preferences and administration controls: From the home screen, click the tab with the gear icon. Click This Device in the left column. Click the Legacy Apps tab, then click Local Settings. It’s a pain to get here, but once there, I actually prefer the combined layout over the separate Preferences and Administration tabs from before.

well when i first looked at this post, i didn't know anything about joli OS, i looked it up, but i couldn't find a whole lot of documentation on it, read several very bad reviews about it, all them stating that it was "ubuntu" based but that joli OS wasn't trying to be a "linux distro" at all.

i went to their site, there is absolutely no real documentation, and after googling for a few, i was not able to determine what Desktop Manager it was using.

so since i was not very productive in my own research of the OS, i didn't feel i should warrant a response with "IDK", but since going back and re-examining the question, i was able to discover they removed a lot of the "settings" in joli OS 1.2, and since you can get to a terminal, you can try this command:

gnome-control-center

since it uses a heavily themed gnome from my research on it, this should work. if not, then i change my answer to "IDK". as for you comment in this thread and the other, you have to remember, a lot of us don't use these "cloud" or "windows to linux" type distro's, i do use ubuntu, but i don't use it in a "noobish" fashion...just ask rookie how we react to him when he starts going on how great meego is...or asking for help there, he doesn't get a whole lot of responses about it, cause most of us simply don't know much about these obscure derivatives like joli and meego...same goes for the chrome/chromium OS that google is producing...

I myself currently have a android phone, even tho it uses the linux kernel, i can honestly say only a handful of things i know about linux, work or even work correctly when i fire up a "terminal" emulator once it is rooted...

its an over clocking forum with some linux fans that browse their own sub section smile.gif why would there be linux support here?

and honestly, the community input here isnt half bad, its just we dont have a large sample of linux users so if you ask about something as obscure as joli than chances are there wont be some one who can answer your question and we would just end up using google for you...

thats what i did, i started off with "joli OS 1.2 desktop manager" when that came up bust, i evolved to "joli OS 1.2 documentation" that was a bust, evolved to "joli OS 1.2 settings", and giggly jiggly, first result lead me to a forum, had to read thru about 4 pages, but found out a good deal about joli, that it was based on ubuntu, used a heavily modified themed version of gnome, and more than likely gnome's control center should work more or less, i guess we could've been all technical and walked him thru editing a xorg file for resolution, mouse sensitivity and a half dozen other configuration files to fine tune that beast that is linux?
