Should I exchange revision 2 non-reference sappire 6950, which probably can't unlock

I have 13 days left to get it back to xpresscanada, so I need opinions please.

The place where I got it listed it as 21188-00-40R, and thats the reference card I was trying to get/expected to get.

Yesterday I got the revision 2 single BIOS non-reference sapphire 6950 2GB 11188-00-40R.

It works great and runs cool, and no doubt quieter, and so far I've had it OCed stable to 910/1320 on stock voltage, using newest Trixx, and with the power boost up 20% in CCC 11.4

I don't know yet how to unlock the voltage in Trixx, in the newest MSI-AB, the voltage slider worked, but the core and memory sliders only went to 840/1325, just like in CCC.

MSI-AB can go from default 1.1V to 1.3V, and GPUZ sees 1.297V.

This didn't work to change newest MSI-AB slider limits
http://www.overclock.net/ati/640563-...-0-bypass.html, I suppose I could use the older version....(I'll try that now)

But using CCC and MSIAB, or CCC + MSIAB + Trixx to OC is messed up....

The closest thing to unlocking it I saw so far was this, from a German OC site, and they had no luck. (bad translation of course)
http://translate.google.ca/translate...%26prmd%3Divns

So I should probably just return/exchange it for other some ref. card, which I would unlock/flash/OC, and watercool it soon anyway.

Any thoughts.

Sapphire only has one model that has voltage control in Trixx but both models work in Afterburner. For unlocking the freq in afterburner look up "I confirm msi afterburner" in google and it should come up. You have to type out this EULA to get it to work. The older version of AB will not work with voltage control.

Anyways.

you don't need to return or exchange it. From the link you posted it looks like they will be getting rid of the dual bios feature soon. Keep it.

I just spoke to the costumer service guy, and I'm going to fill the returns form and as long as I can get any reference card, and I'd pay any small price difference from brand to brand...if me and them can agree on something, I'll do it.

Surely the unlockable types (almost all have) is worth the hassle/time, for the extra power, and put a stock waterblock on it.

And if it was them that goofed, and they admit to it, I'll ask for them to pay the return shipping with Fedex, that delivered it.

I'd definitely swap it out for a reference version if possible. Unlocking it to a 6870 will make it more than worth it and the recovery BIOS is always a nice feature to have if something goes wrong. Good luck

Well xpresscanada is really a online part of canadacomputers, which I had two previous good dealings with, my LCD and MB

But they only have the non-ref. sapphire, and being a big company, they won't trade my perfectly good non-ref sapphire for the ref. powercolor they sell.

And they absolve themselves of any wrongly listed part # errors, which is what got me into this mess.

I think the refund option after the restocking fee, return shipping cost, the wait time, someone else's bank account......BBBLLLLLAAAAHHHHH, and it gets about 48FPS in Crysis warhead according to FRAPS, with all maxed except
4x AA
physics at gamer
shadows at gamer
no blur, no vsync

At least my non-ref is great for a non-ref. now I just need to get some combo of MSIAB+TRIXX+CCC to work together, cause they all do something very useful separately so far....

So once again...

Now I know how Lord Vader and his Emperor must have felt when they blew up their DEATH STAR

if your invoice lists as the reference model, then i would have them pay for shipping back and forth.

this is their fault. someone switched the order at the warehouse.
