Cutting holes without U-channel molding.

Thread Starter
So i got all the bits and peices for my rig, and im just waiting for the weekend when il have time to build and mod my case.

I plan on cutting 4-5 holes in my antec 900 for cable managment, but i dont have any U-channel molding. I checked out a local homedept, and the only Uchannle molding they had was 3/4 of an inch thick, so no good for what i need it for.

Would you guys strongly advise against putting wires through the holes without U-channel molding? im gonna file down the holes to try to get rid of any sharp edge, and the only visible hole i plan to have will be down near the PSU, the others will be hidden right underneath the mobo and drive bay.

If it's filed down properly it should be ok. Just try to not drag the cables through it. Another thing you could do is use Plasti Dip. Use masking tape on the areas you don't want to paint with the stuff.

You can get u-channel molding at your auto parts store. I got mine from Autozone.

If you have say, and old mouse or whatever, you could cut the cord off and split it down the middle for your u channel.

Incase you have trouble finding it, it's called Door Edge Molding if a store associate has to look it up in the computer.

You could use electrical tape on the edge of the hole itself. If you're careful not to get a crease, it doesn't look too bad. Not as nice as u-channel though.

You can also use some small diameter rubber hose and cut it lengthwise.
