upgrade mobo for 775

Thread Starter
Im currently using an asus p5n-d, i know its not the most stable mobo for oc'in so curious of a different board thats still 8gb ram accessible (4 slot - ddr2) for a 775 chipset, currently using a q9300, ive basically maxed hardware out for most part on my current system, but dont want to have to start making a whole new system

You're looking at buying used now.

You aren't gonna find any good 775 motherboads that are brand new.

UD3P-EP45 would be a good upgrade, or a maximus formula II
post #3 of 10
Personally a GA-EP45-UD3P would be great. I am running one right now and thing is a beast.

@ TMC, you spelled the board's nomenclature wrong.

You need a good P45 chipset motherboard:

Gigabyte EP45 UD3P (or UD3R/UD3L if you dont CrossFire)

Asus Maximus Formula II..

Asus P5Q Premium/Deluxe/E models..

Any of those mobos would max out that Q9300 CPU..

Now there are also Asus P5Q Pro & Pro Turbo models which are good up to 460MHz FSB with a C2Quad processor..

Of X48 chipset mobos look for Asus P5E Premium or Deluxe as they are great OCers too..

CHEERS..

EP45 UD3P or UD3R as posted above... Good for 500+ FSB

Keep an eye on the for sale section here, they pop up rather frequently due to people upgrading...

Otherwise the P5Q that KingT mentioned is the second choice... Good for 475+ FSB

I have no 3rd choice... Just be patient and find one of those, otherwise you will regret it as you will know there is a board out there that will push it farther..

You just missed a couple UD3's over the last 3 weeks, more will be up for sale tho I am sure..

Judging from your 800MHz ram I would say you will have a tough time getting past 450 FSB unless the board has alot of FSB : DRAM options, I doubt that ram will do 950 - 1000MHz

Any of the boards stated above would do wonders compared to your P5N-D
