NZXT Sentry LX

Hi all,

I have a Sentry LX and it seems it has a poor power output of 4W per channel. However, I have just bought a couple of Scythe Slipstreams (1900rpm) which have come with 4 pin (Molex is it?) adapters. This may be a complete n00b question but if you plug the fan into the adapter (then into the 4 pin socket from PSU) and the three pin plug on the adapter into the Sentry's 3 pin socket, if the fan drew more power than the Sentry can give, surely it would be coming from the PSU instead?

As I said, n00b question I know it's an obvious answer but I don't know whether that answer is good or bad for me

Incidently I have the fans plugged straight in to the Sentry at the moment and there are no problems at all, even at full speed (which apparently the Sentry wouldn't handle)

The 3 pin only reports speed, all power is drawn from 4 pin moldex.

I had taken apart some scrap fans w/ my vantec tornado's but ended blowing what ever slot i put them in.

Although, how come it's getting power at the moment it's not plugged in via Molex?
