What monitor should I buy?

Thread Starter
I was very impressed with the help I got from Overclock.net when building my computer. So, since my experiences were so great last time, it's time to ask about monitors

Anyways, I just got my computer about two months ago, and have a pretty terrible set up for it right now. Basically, I'm using a 40" TV as my monitor (and it's too damn big for a desk). On top of that, I'm using a bistro table as my "desk" atm. It's just not working out lol.

So, I still need to do some desk searching, but I can't see that having any effect on what monitor I get. My computer is mainly used for gaming and Photoshop like programs. Most of the community seems to be in-support of Dell's IPS line, is that my best best on a $250-300 budget?

Dells are good but if you have a room you might look into multiple monitors. It would help a great deal for multi tasking.

Dell IPS. NEC IPS is good too. PVA is the best of both worlds.

I do plan on buying a second monitor at some point, but I don't have the extra budget atm.

I'm leaning towards the Dell IPS line right now. Anyone want to offer anymore insight?

Go for the dell ultrasharp u2211 or u2311

They will make any TN panel look like absolute garbage

PVA isn't exactly the best of both worlds. It's a compromise more of. It isn't very good for gaming. It does the job, but I'd rather take a TN if I was only gaming 24/7
