[BD]Crysis 2 for PC gets day 1 patch; no DirectX 11 graphics support at launch

Folks who have bought and installed Crysis 2 on their PC gaming rigs today have a couple of unexpected twists. The first is a day 1 patch for Crytek's first person shooter that automatically downloads when you first start the game. The MyCrysis.com community message boards has a patch list of what's fixed or changed including re-enabling the console and putting in cheat detection.

The other unexpected news is that at the moment Crysis 2 does not yet support DirectX 11 graphics.

To me DirectX 11 is not a deal breaker the game is fun overall.

*sigh*. After all those promises, Crytek lied...... no surprise >_<. I'll wait a while before shelling any cash for this one ....

it will never support dx11 , they were just rumors .. the game was developed in dx9 , they started working on it before dx11 was mainstream . Who cares anyway , dx11 will chop ur fps in half for a few rocks that pop out of the ground .. Game looks great as it is , better than any dx9 game iv ever seen.

They cant just release a patch that enables dx11 ? whoever thinks so , has high hopes .

though it would of been good , if it was going to be dx11 it would be on launch .. theres no "patch" they were just words to keep pc gamers mouths shut because people were hating on crytek so much for this .. they had to say or do something ? or they would of lost alot of buyers .

it just aint that simple to mod crysis 2 to be rendered in dx11 .

I predict DX11 for Crysis will somehow be an Nvidia exclusive, which will be revealed in the GTX 590 launch, and much rage will occur. Didn't they invest 2 million on Crysis?

DX11 isn't just bumpy surfaces, it's also enables DX10 features high res textures, better lighting and shadows.
I've been playing for an hour, it's looks good but the game needs better textures asap.

That was a rumour and has yet to be confirmed.

uh, pretty sure DX9 can support high res textures as well. I mean, there's some 8192x8192 texture mods for Fallout 3. I have yet to see any game come anywhere close to using that texture resolution.

Your talking about mods, I'm talking about standard features.
Standard DX9 doesn't support high res textures, light and shadows.
DX10 Crysis enabled Very High, using those files people were able to mod Crysis DX9 to look the same.

There's a reason why very high and extreme does almost nothing in C2, DX9 can't push the game any futher than high i.e. C1. People can stay negative all they want, a DX11 patch is coming and it will make your PC BSOD, lol.

Are you it was some standards limitation? I was under the impression that it was more of a marketing thing to make it seem like DX10 was needed for very high, when in fact it didn't.
