[BD]Crysis 2 for PC gets day 1 patch; no DirectX 11 graphics support at launch - Page 4

The importance of DX11 isn't necessarily because people want it. It's because crytek said they would release the best looking game and DX11 is necessary for that claim to be backed up.

So the game should be DX11, regardless of if it's a good game or not. They said they would do something and they didn't.

Yes, using DX11 is the developer's job..

HOWEVER... It's not like they can just put 5 more minutes into a game and make it DX11. It takes time, money, and DELAYS the game's launch. While some would rather have it fully functional, some would rather have it ASAP as long as it works...

As someone working to get into game developement, you guys are effin harsh >_>.. Game devs are not supermen..

I can agree on that but bottom line is that its not DX11, its playable, fun and detailed. For a FPS game your not really focused on the surroundings anyway when you shooting someone else and all attention is on the other player. Its a fast paced game, when do you have time to look at the ground and say wow thats a nice detailed rock/wall etc..... If they do release DX11 we need to do a benchmark before and after settings just to see the difference on this game. Overall is super fun and Id rather play this than black ops.

I'd be very careful about spouting that kind of viewpoint on this site, since everyone around here is all about $5,000 graphics cards and 13,000x13,000 resolutions, rather than the gameplay itself, at least for multiplayer (the competitive CAL crowd from 7+ years ago likely does not have this problem). But I think Crysis was intended to push tech limits, so I can also see why people are upset that they are getting a DX9 game. I guess I can also see how people who focus more on the SP than the MP are also mad

Right, and if the gameplay is anything like the original Crysis, I won't be getting it.

O wait that's right, they decided to make the game more like COD, a MUCH BETTER FPS. BWAHAHA yeah right ; )

Bye Crytek

Way to generalize the entire OCN population there chief.
Seriously though, it's getting great reviews everywhere so it can't be all that bad. I might just impulse buy it myself.

They cant just release a patch that enables dx11 ? whoever thinks so , has high hopes .

though it would of been good , if it was going to be dx11 it would be on launch .. theres no "patch" they were just words to keep pc gamers mouths shut because people were hating on crytek so much for this .. they had to say or do something ? or they would of lost alot of buyers .

it just aint that simple to mod crysis 2 to be rendered in dx11 .
So your point is why include higher quality graphics if not everyone can run them? Got it.

The point is offering a range of qualities that people who can max them out, will be able to, and those who can't, will be able to run the game with lower settings. The point isn't to program with the lower end of the mid-range GPUs in mind and not even offer more taxing settings.

It's not all about graphics. Far Cry was fun, and the graphics at the time were great. Far Cry 2 looked awesome, but was so boring, and buggy. Fast forward...

Your Absolutely right, but from a gamers standpoint, Its just a game. I can understand why people are mad too but get over it, they lied, they said it would be DX11 and its not. We've been lied too before from alot of manufacturers.

I'm sure I'll buy Crysis 2 eventually, it looks fun from what I've seen.

However, I will not pay full price for an unfinished game.
