I seriously thought it would be DX11 out of the box.. I'll stick with Crysis 1 for now..

The transition between Direct X versions in a game has been done before.

Flight Simulator X was originally DX9. Microsoft added DX10 API's later on in one of its two officially released service packs. To say crytek couldn't do something similar with crysis 2 is a little bit naive to say the least.

How bad does DX9 look?

Can someone post screenies. Maxed settings, 1080p and with as much AA as your card can handle?

It's an absolutely beautiful dx9 game. Wish they would have gone the whole 9 yards and used dx11 though .

Company Of Heroes did the same. One of the first DX10 games.

Despite being mad at Crysis over the whole DX11 deal, I won't be getting the game because the MP demo felt nothing like sandbox Crysis. I haven't even played the retail Crysis (Have put about 15 hours into the demo though. Yes, 15 hours, get over it) and I could feel that something was missing in Crysis 2. It's just not the same and that's the sad part, not that DX11 isn't included, that's just a little lame after the promises.

Honestly the game looks really good and plays like a dream. Multiplayer a pretty fun experience with the suit and everything. I know it's alot of post processing and other crap but it does look good.

Hopefully they patch it.

And either crytek needs to release a crossfire profile or AMD does, I can't play this game in crossfire mode! I get horrible light flickering issues as are many others!! Steam users are screwed. If you bought the hardcopy retail version you can just rename the crysis2.exe to rift.exe . No luck in the steam version though.

Here's my opinion:

I beleive Crytek at hear does care about PC Gamers but was prolly too pressured into putting this thing out on Consoles to really focus there limited resources on a full PC specific experience. I also do believe that we will recieve DX11 in the future, prolly sooner than later also. They prolly ended up putting so much effort into the game itself that they got cut short on everything they wanted to do for PC and decided to continue working on it after release so that they can add in what we want, I won't a bit suprised when we get a patch adding in the new API and advanced graphics settings etc... I am sure it is possible.

I mean really guys we could have been stuck waiting up to another year for our own version of the game as has been done with multi-platform games before (GTA4 etc.) It is a shame that we are basically an afterthought though at the moment. I plan to purchase the game today to enjoy the single player, im sure it is good fun, but I will have a bitter taste from knowing it's not currently what it should have been.

Any PC gamers that buy this should be ashamed of themselves for supporting console ports.
