Ya, but DX11 was confirmed from the start for Crysis 2 also. Although I have a little more faith in DICE. If they are making the game for consoles, there has to be some sort of DX9 in development for it, so it could end up being on PC also (never know). I'm all for the DX10/11 only, but if they only make it DX11 or 10, wouldn't that limit their sales quit a bit on PC? Not everyone has DX10 or 11 cards or even will have by then and also cuts out the people running XP. As much as we like to think XP is done, tons of people still run it even though they have DX10/11 cards.

Doesn't DX10 run on cards such as the HD4xxx and the nVidia 2xx series? Or the nVidia 8xxx + series cards? (im not too sure of this).

I know that XP doesnt support DX11, but does it support DX10? Or was that only Vista?

Yes, we know that many computers still dont have the hardware for DX10/11 but such is the way of progress. As soon as developers man up and stop supporting old outdated tech, we will finally start to see an improvement in graphics tech.

This is how technology progresses, by screwing the people who refuse to change.

Ya, DX10 has only been supported since Vista. XP is still DX9 only. I like your thinking on the bolded part. Only problem is that they make less money than they could have made. I applaud a company for not always looking at the bottom line though...or at least pretending not to look.

1. Technology progresses
2. Games are implemented only with this tech
3. People are forced to upgrade
4. New consoles released sooner
5. Profit for hardware and software(M$) manufacturers
6. Profit for developers later beings first few games will probably not sell as much while people are upgrading.
7. Everything and everybody is future-proof for 1 year.

The thing that's so special about DICE doing this is that they actually have the power to move people from XP. If it was an unknown company, they'd be applauded by those of us who have Vista/7 and ignored by those on XP. BF3 won't be easy to ignore however. A lot of the people still on XP will want it.

You don't know what you're talking about.

There were no files to use.

All you had to do was edit the config and copy/paste the Very High settings into High to enable those "amazing DX10 effects" into DX9 Crysis.

If you did this, the only DX10 feature lacking would be ambient occlusion. It would still look almost identical to the game running in DX10 but perform much better as well.

Last i saw, thats how you run a business into the ground and developers are running a business.

Businesses and consumers aren't here to subsidize DirectX tech nerds.

You also realize that by upgrading there getting an advantage on the competition right? Its by nessesity that companies upgrade their tech.

Stay in DX9, and soon you'll be left behind.

MY CRYSIS

Crytek Press Release

Crytek is pleased to announce the much hyped, PC exclusive expansion to Crysis 2 this summer. CRYVILLE, exclusive to Facebook and Nintendo 3ds!

You can build your very own Cryfarm, complete with crymatoes and cryarrots! Our new app supports Maximum Irrigation®, a feature that has been developed specifically for this groundbreaking game and promises to tax even the newest Flash 10.2 features! (In an upcoming patch, we promise Flash 9.0 will be used at launch)

We are all about innovation at Crytek, so hopefully this will help make up for our lack of a love letter to PC gamers, the reason for why we were here in the first place.

xoxo

Cevat

PS. There will be a $14.99 monthly subscription fee, Activision is our new publisher.
