fresh build - temps seem high!!

Thread Starter
I just finished the build in my sig rig. I booted it up and was checking out the BIOS and everything before I installed the OS and such.

I went to the hardware monitor in BIOS (UEFI) and the CPU temperature stays about 40-42C, but that seems a little high to me. I put a second fan on my GAIA for push/pull, but both fans are kinda weak; one maxes at 1500 and the other at 1200 RPM. I used Artcic Silver 5 paste and I know it has a 200 hour cure time, but I don't think that should make the temp stay that high.

What do you guys think?

40oc sounds fine tbh i wouldnt worrie about it maby some better fans that creats a better air flow would help but i woudnt worrie about it to much

Bios temps don't really mean much, they don't even measure the core temp, but rather its a sensor in the socket itself. The only temp that matters is what you get under load in windows through core temp/real temp.

In Bios i get 40-43 with stock fan (no oc), but you should only really worry about if your temps are high under load.

Yes, use core temp and speed fan to monitor your temperatures.

Thanks guys. This was my first build and I wasn't sure of good temps for SB and my cooler. I'm probably gonna get some better fans in the future, but after buying everything I NEEDED I'm broke lol.

But yeah, I was worried I didn't seat the heatsink well enough, but it's stayed steady. On to installing the OS and test temps with realtemp

To maximize your cooling be sure that your fans in push/pull setup needs to be identical. go grab a 2000rpm fan with a low noise. You need to consider the ambient temp also.
