$1300 Budget Build - Need help

Thread Starter
Making my bro a comp. Want it able to run any game at 1920 * 1200 while some opportunity for the future.
so I thought of these so far:
Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) - $225
GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB - $280
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - $30
Samsung SH-S223 - $20
Intel X25-M 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) -$185

So I'm still looking for a tower, motherboard, ram, secondary hard drive, soundcard and powersupply. Anyone have any good builds, tips, or suggestions?

Mid or full tower?
I will let the Intel gurus suggest mobo/ram for ya.
WD Caviar Black 1TB HD - 87$ on Tigerdirect.com currently.
Personally, I would skip the soundcard and just go with onboard. Unless your brother really needs it.
750W PSU - Personally, Ultra X4 Modular. I have read some people on these boards having issues with theirs. I haven't had any bad experiences yet. Knock on wood.

I'd suggest some Gskill Ripjaws RAM, can get 4gb for around $50 on newegg, and a samsung f3 1tb should do great for a secondary drive which is around $65, as for a soundcard I personally wouldn't worry about one as most onboard soundcards are pretty good, and save the extra cash on other bits of hardware.

I can't really help with the mobo, as im no that up to date with the 67 chipset, though I can suggest an Asus or MSI board, i've always had good experiences with them..

I'd go for a HAF 922 case as well, they are pretty nice for the price, $90?

my build has no OS, but clocks in under 1300:
Antec 1200
Antec Cool Power 850w
Ripjaws X 1600 8GB
WD black 1tb
Lite-On DVD
Asus Sabertooth P67
i5 2500k
XFX 6970
Noctua NH-D14

In all honesty, for a 1300 dollar budget build, I would drop the SSD and put it toward better parts, thats what I did. You will get the OS and maybe two or three games on it. Is it really worth a slightly faster boot time? In my opinion, its not worth it with this small of a budget. I took that money and put it towards better ram, gfx card and cooler.

This!!!

I also at first was thinking to grab an SSD. Yes its sweet to have and will improve boot etc.., but you can always add one in later, perhaps when prices are even better? Maybe after having run your rig without one you'll be able to make a more informed decision as to whether you still need/want one.
