Not for this type of build. I'd actually recommend an AMD Phenom II x4 for you.

What exactly are you gonna be using this for again? 4GB is more than plenty for gaming I know that and I would only get 8GB if I wanted to have more games running at the same time, or if you were a heavy video nut with lots of encoding.

You're not going to notice a big difference between a x4 and a x6 for your purposes. Go with a bigger SSD and some RAM with tighter timings instead.

Also, why have you decided not to overclock?

I hardly use up 20 GB on my OS partition right now anyway, I use my TB drive for my files.

I'm not going to be gaming, just general Desktop usage and running VMs.
I don't feel the need to overclock because what I have even currently runs good for me. I'd like to upgrade to an X6 though and plus be able to get DDR3 RAM. That's why I'm building this new system.

It'll run better for you if you overclock...

Well I personally think the build I chose would work great and your getting more for you money. Since everything plus the 430 = 592, you can but some accessories like a sweet mouse or something. lol Do you need a DVD drive or do you have that covered?

Understandable, but I have overclocked my E7200 in the past, and really haven't seen any noticeable difference when doing the basic tasks that I would be doing. Why use that power when I don't take full potential of it? It's just wasted cycles in the end.

I don't really use a DVD drive at all anymore, I have all of my Windows install media on USB.
I'd be getting 4 more gigs of RAM with the choice I selected, and it would have onboard graphics (which would be more than enough for my needs.)

Go with sandy bridge system because it's more efficient and has best price/performance ratio right now. Go with your original cpu and a cheap h67 board for about $80. The AMD setups mentioned above will cost the same.. so sandy bridge definitely wins here.

So in the end, it's a matter of either...
A) AMD X6 Core
or
B) Intel Sandy Bridge Quad

What would be the best price / performance?
I'm leaning towards AMD.
