TIM Question

Thread Starter
Alrighty, so recently I purchased a Hyper 212+ (I love it) and a week later I bought an identical blademaster fan because the one I put on ran only at 1200rpm (blademasters are 2000rpm). So I got that fan and now it always runs at 2000rpm, so needless to say it is unnecessarily noisy since I only idle at around 35-40c. So I am buying a Y-4pin PWM splitter for the CPU plug on the mobo so they sync up properly.

Well long story short (Unnecessary story above). I was going to purchase a new TIM for my Hyper 212+ (I am using the stock it came with). And I know nothing about TIM or what I would even be looking for. Assuming money is not an option what would be the best of the best? Something that I will really notice my temps go down.

Full load = 55-57c - 955BE overclocked to 3.8Ghz 1.45v (NB @2800Mhz with 1.4v)

Any opinions will be much appreciated!

Check this review out. Most tims will come close to the same performance, although very difficult to discern differences as many things can affect your idle/load such as a simple increase in ambient, fitting, or tim spread.

Personally I use mx-2 or AC5, whichever is easier for you to use if price is not an issue.

IC7 and Shin-Etsu.

Oh I will defintely check that out when I have more time to read it all. I feel like my temps are a tad high with the Hyper 212+, when I OC my 955BE to 4Ghz and 1.5v it runs around 62c. Trying to get that overclock but hover around 55c, not sure if it's possible tho.

Hi again, ive got AS5 in ATM, tomorrow, well later today im getting AC MX3 will post up later if thats made any difference, it has no curing times like the AS5 33-34 idle at the mo just want to see does it knock a couple of degrees down as like you I want to get 4Ghz, but my cpu takes at least 1.488 whaich gets it overheating (just)...

Coollaboratory= best.
I use ICD, non conductive/non capacitive.
Works fine for me.

Thank you all for the responses. I have many things to poke around at now. I am very suceptable to high reviews/ratings :| so I checked out newegg and saw this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007 highest reviews/ratings, just curious if it is any good or just a basic meh one that everyone buys?

Also something I have been trying to find, I thought there was a fan/heatsink mod thread which shows certain ways to increase how effective they can be. (The one thing I wanted to see what was to put tape on the heatsink so the airflow isnt lost)

Not bad, but not as good IC7 or Shin-Etsu. AS5 has been around for a looooong time.

Alrighty, maybe I'll try out IC7 hmmm...I need to wait till the PWM 4 pin splitter comes back in stock in newegg before I buy anything anyone so hmmm. Basically I wanna see how cool I can get my CPU with a 212+ and trying other things with it. (New TIM, heatsink mods, things like that)

Go here for free shipping on all TIMs.

AC MX-2/3/4, AS Matrix, Gelid GC-Extreme, IC Diamond 7, Shin Etsu G-751, and Thermalright Chill Factor III are all excellent choices.
