Firefox FTW!

Use Firefox, get the IE tab add-on, then you'll win the compatibility argument for those times you "need" IE.

You can't argue with an idiot, especially when that idiot is giving you a pay check.

I would just bring in a newspaper everyday and read it while your pages are loading. That should send a message.
Besides that your boss is the boss. Look on the bright side, it's not your PC.

I use IE8 at work, spend practically the whole day browsing financial data and it's fine. Suck it up.

So, let me get this straight; he's basically telling you how to do your job, and in doing so, if it all cocks up, you're to blame?

Is that right?

If so, i'd tell him to back off and mind his own business, just sayin.

Alot of people are idiots, they won't get that hint.

I'd just make it clear that any decision he makes is his responsibility. If he decides IE8 is best and it causes a serious trojan/virus infection, it's his fault. not mine.

I wouldn't put my job/ass on the line for anyone.

Hey!
You can stop the redirects to Bing on your IE-8
Tools>Internet options>Advanced Tab.....
in settings field scroll right to the bottom.
in the field "search from the address bar" select do not display unknown address in case of automatic search.
confirm the changes then click apply...
now if you type any site or anthing else... you will see the error page and can correct it manually!
I know its not a great idea though...
Chrome is definitely better!!
i use chrome!!

I would suck it up if I could use IE9 since I've had no issues with that one, but for the fact that the IE8 is crashing, litteraly 2-3 times each day is making me nuts. But I managed to change the search machine to Google which is good, but I'm just waiting for the wanker to say like, "Hey Steve, whaaats happening, so I've decided that everybody should use Bing instead of Google cuz Google isn't he best search engine in the world and Bing is kinda working with Microsoft and Microsoft have the best, fastest, safest browser in the world, so if you could just go ahead and change your default search engine to Bing again, that would be greeeat. Thanks!"

i like your boss

I Can totally see that happening tho. I get 3-5 crashes in an hour =\\ And i can't successfully install IE9. This is why I love chrome =]

I really hope something happens so that your boss gives chrome a chance, like a virus or a productivity loss. But maybe he would blame you
