Indexing is fine as long as you move the index files away from the SSD, which you can do in Indexing Options. They say you don't need it because SSDs are so fast, but remember that many of us still need hard drives in the system to store many of the files we would want to search in the first place. So the speed of the SSD isn't helping if you're searching a different drive. But on a laptop, it would be a different story.
However, that method they're showing doesn't disable indexing at all. That checkbox just toggles whether to index the contents of the files (like every word in a text file) or just the file properties. And, when you uncheck that box, Windows has to go through almost every file on the drive and change the properties to tell it how it should be indexed. That involves some writing to the SSD, but I don't know how much.
