Question, is this possible?

Thread Starter
Well, I'm obviously a noob, but I wanted to start getting into water cooling/ overclocking. Unfortunately money, and my current case is an issue. Currently I have an Antec 300 case which does its job well, but it's quite small.

So here's my problem, I want to water cool my cpu (i7 950) to overclock it a bit, as well as my 6870 and a second 6870 which I will add at another time.
In my case there's basically no room, however there's room for 2 separate 120mm radiators in different areas.

So my probably stupid question is would I be able to efficiently cool my cpu using one and my gpu using the other.

It would go something like this... Rad>cpu>rad>gpu>pump so its like one loop? Like
I said, its probably a stupid question, but don't make fun of me for trying, haha.

Not a stupid question. We all had the exact same question(s) when we started out.

Is it possible? Sure. Will it fit in your particular case? Not sure, maybe posting a picture or link would help.

You may want to look at a kit, and you could always externally mount your RAD. I use use one of the RASA kits, which in my opinion are very good, and a great way to start. A link to the "Official Rasa Kit" group in in my sig. The very first post is very informative and may answer many of your questions.

Good luck, water cooling is fun, addictive, and a great solution for many.

You probably wouldn't like the temperatures with two 120mm radiators, and it would really limit overclocking.

You could always use an external radiator though.

I would first look to upgrade your case to a full tower case. The HAF 932 or HAF X are great cases because they offer a lot of room for a relatively cheap price. The HAF cases are also great air coolers that you can later convert to a water cooling system.

If I were you I would look to picking up a HAF full tower case and then start with a XSPC Rasa kit. The Rasa RX 360 kit runs about 200 and the HAF runs about 120 but they are being removed from the looks of it from the market newegg is no longer stocking them. So over all to get a decent case and cpu you are looking 320 + shipping if you want to add a gpu block you are generally looking at 420 + shipping.

Really they last thing you want to do is cram a water cooling system into a small case unless you want to externally mount the rad.

Okay well after I asked the question I thought it would it be possible to fit a 360 in this small case.

Here's a picture of it:

So I did some measuring after looking at what the radiator+ fans would be, and I found that I could mount a 360 to the top inside the case it would be a tight fit, would block the ram, and I'd have to take out the top 140mm fan, but it could fit. So basically all I would have to do is some drilling.

I'm tight on money as it is, and with the wc system + gpu water block, and then later another gpu+ water block, another case is my last priority. I also don't want to externally mount the radiator, but if I had too I could.

Yikes on cable management! But I know whit out a place to run cables or a modular psu things can be a pita to run. Um a few things: A.) Were you looking at a thin or thick rad? B.) Would the rad + 3 fans block any hs or ram blocks? C.) What exactly is your budget? D.) What mods would you be willing to do?

Well my budget basically is 300 at the moment which pretty much covers a cheap wc system and a gpu waterblock.

Haha yes, my computer is an eyesore, I went cheaper on my psu, the case offers no cable management, and zip ties only go so far. (I envy a man with a corsair 800D).

So here's the radiator I was looking at: http://www.jab-tech.com/XSPC-R120-T-...s-pr-4232.html

And here's where the radiator would go, the bottom line represents as far as it would extend down. You'd have to imagine that 140mm top fan as part of it, but switched around so that it's on the bottom. Hopefully you get the picture I'm trying to paint for you.

Oh, also I don't think it would block a ram waterblock, but I would have to remove the radiator to remove/ do anything with the ram.

Mod wise, I'd be willing to do what's needed, its a cheap case. I'm already going to add a window to the side panel.

The only issues with thin rads is that you need to run them in a push/pull set up to get them up to the thicker versions cooling power. A RASA RX 360 I know can handle an i7 and 5970 so I assume that it could handle your gfx cards in push/pull or a less than max oc full loop. I would assume you can get an easy 4.0 on the cpu itself the gfx cards may be a bit touchy.

You can always mod the top of the case to fit a bigger rad I have seen some mods in the case mod section and it seems easy enough as long as you have the proper tools, painters tape and some time.

Well maybe I could do the 360 on top and then another 120 in a different place for my gpu(s). It will be interesting to see.

I'm also going to check out the mod section right now just because it sounds cool.
