I couldn't find the i5 2500K on newegg.com, but with crossfire 6950's and 8G (2X4GB) its a savings of $270.12.

Thank you very much sir. +1

Are you sure 8GB is enough?
Even on my current rig. 6GB is not enough.

I never actually considered crossfire 6950's but the price drop allows me to buy water blocks for both and maybe even squeeze in a cpu water block.

Plus with the 8GB (2X4GB) I can always upgrade later.

Thanks again sir.

I would suggest a better quality PSU, here is a Corsair 850 watt modular

A pair of 6950's are not going to need a 1000 watt PSU, besides it is more about amps on the 12 volt rail then total watts

Your choice for an SSD uses a Barefoot controller, this is the slower controller
try to find one that fits your budget with Sandforce controller

Even with a 2 360 rads on it and a pump?
I would like enough power to supply any future upgrades, but if 850W is ample energy than thank you and +1 good sir.

Also I didn't know about the controller on the SSD. Thanks again. Thats probably why it was so cheap. Ill probably just switch it to a 16GB, I only need the OS on the SSD.

Would a 2500K OC to 5.0 as easily as a 2600K?
I wouldn't mind getting the 2500K either since, I hear IvyBridge is comming out in Q4 with an Octo-core processor.
And I hear it will run on LGA 1155, so I won't have to get a new board.
Pretty much anything that will run at 5.0Ghz stable OC is what im looking for.

different case (there are better for slightly less),

different video card (unless you really need the power, get a pair of 6950s or something),

different PSU (any 850W seasonic, corsair, silverstone, antec TP would be more than sufficient),

You will never need 16 gigs of ram. Size that down to 2x4GB sticks and save yourself 120 bucks.

32GB SSD? Not really enough space for anything significant except for the OS and a few apps at most. I would raid a pair of 500gig 2.5 inch drives and have a 2TB storage drive until you can afford a bigger SSD. like 120GB+

List could definitely use some fine tuning.

No 2500K/2600K is guaranteed 5Ghz. You need to keep that in mind; however, most can probably get there if your willing to put it under water and pump 1.45-1.5+ volts at it. Planning for 4.8 at a decent voltage would be better for planning purposes, and if you can keep it cool enough and squeeze 5.0 out of it, you lucked out.

I can get it on mine, but the added heat/voltage is dumb for an extra 200mhz 24/7. There are a few golden CPUs out there that will do it on 1.4 though, and originally it seemed 2600Ks were OC'ing better, but that think its is perfectly split in these current batches.

i am not sure if it will hit 5.0 but i had tried 4.8 and was able to get it with a noctua D14... and it was stable..... but then i upgraded to 2600K because of hyper threading as im a photoshop freak!!! still with watercooling.. it will be able to hit 5 ghz with no problems!!!
