500W PSU enough? - Page 2

A good 350w PSU would EASILY handle that load.

Since you're forced to buy at Best Buy, here's what I found on their website that will be enough to power your build.

Corsair Builder 430w
Corsair Builder 500w (the 430w will be sufficient though)
Corsair Builder 600w (again, the 430 will be sufficient though)
Corsair Gaming 600w (again with the 430w)

Okay, so I guess the only thing of quality that I can find on Best Buy's website is Corsair. That's pathetic . If your Best Buy happens to carry the Antec Earthwatts or TruePower New line, those would be considerably better. The above PSU's are listed in order by price (low to high), based off the Best Buy website.

unfortunately it seems psu's ratings are regulated as bout as well as car audio amplifiers.

Good quality brands will put out products that actually get their rated power or even sometimes over, whereas cheap brands will sometimes not even put out half their advertised power.

So just picked up at corsair gs700. I know it's overkill but all they had in the 500 range was a crappy rocketfish psu. The gs600 was 94.99 and the gs700 was 99.99. Only 5 bucks difference! So its needless to say which one logic dictated I get. With my store credit and reward zone points. I got the gs700 and a large cd/DVD case to serve as a case mod project for 70bucks! Epic win I think.

The Rocketfish 500W isn't all that crappy, it's a Huntkey Jumper unit. Not great, but fairly solid. On par at least or slightly better than the CX series. GS series is better though.

I have had 1 rocketfish psu and it was total crap for me I don't take any chances. I know corsair is a reputable brand and I must say I really like the adjustable led fan. I am partial to white LEDs so that's how it will be set.
