The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released two new reports on Internet access and telephone subscribership in the U.S.

The reports are based on data submitted by carriers to the FCC every six months. They track changes at the state and national level in the number of subscribers to Internet service in 72 combinations of speed, and the number of wireline, mobile and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephones subscribers.

I do not find this surprising, not really...

Usa pricing and connections are sad. I'm getting far faster in Thailand (actual DL speeds of 1MB+/s, no cap..about $30 a month) than I was in Vegas...And this is considered by many a "3rd world country"...Though to be fair, I'm in Chiang Mai (2nd largest city in Thai).

The problem is american people have no voice anymore or are to ignorant to even understand these concepts, and even if they did politicians could care less. Issues like this go unnoticed and uncared for, while people can't wait to see what happens on "jersey shore"

And they want to cap your bandwidth with that low quality of service.

Speed the internet up, worry about the caps later.

Spoken like a scholar mate..

It's the throttling that has me all pissed off, I could care less about caps, I very rarely go over 20 GB a month, and usually it's less than 10 GB.

I just want ISPs to deliver the speed they say they are selling you! To me, we need to all band together and do a class-action for false advertising, they advertised 1 Gb, but deliver a lot less! They sputter on the phone, well mumble mumble, you aren't calculating it correctly. WTH? I can add/subtract/multiply and divide, or did you think all consumers are completely clueless?

A class action law suit would put and end the BS once and for all! If the courts ruled in favor of the people the ISPs would have to pay back many billions and billions of dollars! If you can't deliver, don't sell it like you can!

Sustained speeds are never even close, even when you download from multiple servers, you can't get anywhere near 1 Gb!

They either need to pass a law to mandate speeds are accurately consistent to the plan or we need to take matters in our own hands!

so many things I want to say. But I've said it all before.

The FCC can't do it's job because if it did, The lobbyists/corporations would stop throwing money at it them, meaning they would have to lay off people. So in order to "create jobs" they continue to allow these bribes. Which means we continue to have horrible internet service and the head of this country continues to give nice speeches about how "America has to blah...blah...world...internet...technology...blah ...people clapping...blah...".
