Could i pick this up

at a higher frequency than my other ram and have it add to that? RAM really isn't my forte :/

That RAM is considerably slower. Your RAM is DDR2-800. That's DDR2-667.

And no, you really shouldn't mix and match RAM. And you'll really want to keep to 2 sticks or 4 sticks total (that match) for dual channel.

If you want an upgrade on RAM, you'll want some good DDR2-800 with timings of 4-4-4-12, or some DDR2-1066 with 5-5-5-15 timings.

You could very EASILY be at the limitations of your motherboard too at this point. Have you tried increasing voltages at all (NB and vcore)? If you do, raise them in moderation, don't go overboard on it.

I'm not too familiar with the LGA775 systems, so I really don't know what voltages you NEED to raise to gain stability.

Would getting another 2 or 4 gigs of this cheap ram help me overclock? i have 2 slots left
Actually that would hinder overclocking, the more slots you occupy the harder overclocking will get.

You can, if they have the same specifications (timings, speed and voltage).

I'm guessing you can't boot at higher speeds because you need to raise the FSB Termination voltage and the Northbridge voltage. Put both to 1.26v (if possible) and try again. You have a P45 chipset board, it should be decent enough for overclocking a quad.

Hi there!
pangolinman as you might noticed here are many people who are willing to help.
Beside the RAM issue if you post your BIOS settings maybe someone who has that board knows whats wrong. Don`t be shy

That is 667MHz RAM and it would only allow your system to run at stock 2.83GHz as OCing would be pretty much impossible..

For the best OC results you need 1066MHz DDR2 RAM..

Now for you current RAM set this:

You need to set your FSB:RAM = 1:1 so for example for FSB of 400MHz your RAM should be at 800MHz..

Also set your RAM timings to 5-5-5-15 and RAM voltage to 2.0V..

CHEERS..

That is a 2GB RAM stick so you'd need two of those sticks for 4GB of RAM..

I have a Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/4G which is 2x2GB kit..

But I would recommend you to pay a visit to the MSI web site and look for RAM compatibility list for you motherboard to be 100% sure that your new RAM would be compatibile with mobo..
