Over the last 3 years I've added a hard drive, recently switched the PSU to something that doesn't look like it's going to explode, and at the same time changed the graphics card from a 9800 to a 5850, and I play games just fine, I think you might be over-doing it.

Over the last 1 year and 2 months I've gone through:
- 3 CPU's: From X4 965 BE to X6 1055T to i7 2600k
- 3 Motherboards: From Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P to Crosshair IV Formula to ASUS P8P67 EVO
- 2 kits of RAM: From 4Gb G-Skill Ripjaws 1600Mhz CL9 to 4Gb G-Skill Ripjaws 1600Mhz CL7
- 3 CPU Coolers: From Corsair H50 to Noctua NH-D14 to Thermaltake FrÃ*o
- 2 PSU's: From Corsair TX650w to XFX 750w Black Edition
- 5 GPU's: From HD5850 to HD5970 (With GTX460 for Physx) to x2 HD6970 in Crossfire
- Also bought a Vertex 2 120Gb
- From onboard sound to Auzentec X-Fi Bravura
- 2 Cases: From HAF 932 to Silverstone Raven RV02B-W

Not to mention all the games I keep buying from Steam, I have over 80 steam games on my account worth about 1000€ lol.

In the last year I spend a good over 5200€ with games + PC O_o

I think that's it, lol

I watched a show on TV about how people are addicted to wow. One guy says hes spent over $50000 bucks on hardware, software and anything else he can get an advantage over other players since 2007. This is why I don't ever see PC games dieing off .

Probably. When Crysis 2 didn't work with CF and runs fine on a single 6870 it kind of made me think perhaps I've got a bit of overkill here. Granted gaming is not the only thing I do.

Mine is in the front room running Boxee for blu rays and such...but in the same repect I just bought the mother in law a acer revo for the same which is basic as hell and works just as well and is very compact, All in all i'm happy with what I have but since the thoughts of buying a quad are in my mind i'm wondering wether I need to. Specially since I have had no issues with 2 cores on any games

A woman? Seriously!?

That is the REAL money pit right there. Not computers. rolleyes.gif

The smartest thing you said here was "saving".

I use my Q6600 + 5770 for gaming, browsing, blurays, ripping and converting DVD and anything else I need/want to do PC related. Raid 0 640 gig aaks + 1 tb f3 internal + access to the 1tb external)

My PCs are old school, but I bought the e6400 when the only core 2's were the E6300, E6400, or E6600
