Ye that's the nice thing about desktops rather than laptops But thread makers opinion is that some of us just need upgrades all the time like we're freaking addicted Though we don't need all of that power, but just want it because we only just got the money for it.

Powerful hardware = a lot of electricity needed. They most likely putted a lot of taxes on such stuff.
And in Australia they got lots of forests burning, floods and basically really lots of weather troubles - so he should be happy that they try to do something about it not like the rest of the world ignoring it until it hit themself

I have gone through 5 graphics cards 3 motherboards, various ram, 3 power supplies, multiple hard drives, 2 cases,fans,2 processors.........

All this and i'm now thinging that I will need to go quad core even though my rig is eating games right now. Is it an obsession? I remember I upgraded my pc originally as it would be cheaper and better than a console. I got a 8400 gts and a slower core 2 duo(cant even remember which one) since then I have went to 8800gts, 1x 9800 gt to 9800 gt sli , gtx460 and now gtx 560. Its probbaly cost me in the region of 3k with all the upgrades in the last 3 years. This is not saving me a penny and before this I was happy with my PS2.

Is it just me? what are your views one it? are we obsessed with getting the highest settings possible even though console quality would be fine? Do forums liek these make you feel like you are the only one not getting the newest hardware?
The trick is to not make every little upgrade, and make only the one's that will make noticeable differences.

I don't see how many of you guys upgrade so much

I've been at my ancient pair of GTS 250 for little over a year on DDR2 still and I don't feel the need to upgrade. I'm itching too but I know its still early. I do however buy new stuff like Lighting, fans, new peripherals very often.
