Thinking about upgrading - 570gtx Questions

Yep another upgrade thread

Well with all the new games that I am waiting for to come out (Duke Nukem, Elder Scrolls V, Fear3 etc) and after messing around with the Crysis2 demo and RIFT, It's time to upgrade the old 8800GTS setup. I have been thinking about getting the 570GTX but kind of worried about buying one after seeing threads on buyers remorse and the dead 570gtx thread.... most of them were due to extreme clocks and disabling the power protection. The 580 is nice but I don't think it's worth spending the extra 150 bucks on average for marginal fps increase.

I'm trying to get an idea of how happy the 570 owners are? I currently game at 1920x1200 when ever possible with my current card. I hope to SLI in the future.

Second would be, which brand to decide on since my go to nvidia brand which was BFG tech is now out of business (cry) The ASUS DCII looks really nice but could run into issues spacing issues in SLI..... im current board they would be fine but worried about spacing on a future board.

Third, will my 720w PSU be enough to run a single 570gtx? (it's about 1.5 years old)

Any comments and recommendations will be greatly welcome.

And your current psu will run a single 570, I personally think a good 650w would be enough!

your PSU is way more than enough wattage wise. Is it an 80+ model?

I'm running SLI 460's on my 650 watt corsair, and its more than enough.

A 600 watt PSU will handle a 570. Your Power supply is fine!

I have been very happy with my 570's. Great cards!

Thank you for the replies. My Enermax PSU is 80+ rated.

I'm currently in the process of looking at manufacturers but will take a look at EVGA.

For what it's worth, playing Crysis at High Settings at 3600x1920 resolution with two GTX 570's in SLI give me an average of 35-45fps (depending on the action), with power draw at anywhere from 580-610W at the wall (as confirmed with my power meter) for my sig rig. Factoring efficiency, and you can see that even SLI with two cards leaves ample room on my PSU as well as your's.
