New budget build, help me pick out some parts.

My brother always watches me play games and he wants a computer of his own now.

I have most of the parts picked out but I really need to decide on a processor, and perhaps a hard drive.

Parts bought so far:

Micro atx case (Hp P6310y case)
500 watt Rocketfish Gaming PSU
2GB (1x2gb)Samsung DDR3 CL7 1333mhz
Windows 7 Home Premium
EVGA GT 240 (Not sure if it's 512 or 1gb, I'll have it later today)
250 GB Western Digital SE-16 Sata II (My Fraps drive, I may want to keep this)
AM3 Pegatron Violet 6 Motherboard
15 in 1 card reader
Scythe Big Shuriken CPU cooler

Parts to buy:

Cheap dvd drive off newegg
CPU (deciding between Athlon II x2 and x3)
Possibly a cheap Western Digital Caviar Blue

Any other parts that I need to buy? I'll have 2 fans inside the case.
What CPU would match the GT 240? I'm thinking of just going with a dual core.

EDIT:
All games will be played on 1280x1024.

Thanks for the replies,

- Matt

The Rocketfish is a relabeled Huntkey. Imo it's one of the best 500 watt PSU's.

The motherboard is an HP OEM item.
Definitely not the best motherboard, but it was free and it has Windows 7 attached to it.

rocketfish is bestbuy house brand

any cpu will be fine, the gt240 isnt that great of a card

with the oem board you wont be able to overclock
you can get a new board/cpu combo from microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/specials/...ndlePROMO.html
might be a trip from Whitehall, PA tho

Not really interested in upgrading the motherboard since it'd cost me a bit too much.
Budget build = I don't have much to spend

My brother's 7 years old, so he really won't be complaining about graphics, he only has a Wii. lol With such a low resolution I thought that it really wouldn't matter anyway.

Best buy brands... oh boy
Single channel memory... MOAR OH BOY

See what other brands you can find that are better for the PSU. As for RAM, get 2 DIMMs or a 2 DIMM dual channel set.
