[VGHQ] George Hotz Runs Away to South America - Page 14

It's not fair

An entire company with billions of dollars buying out all the judges, one kid who decided to use his PS3 however he wanted.

Everyone knows thats why Sony wants the trial to be in Cali, so all of the judges will side with sony. there were NO bribes, of course.

Truth in a lot of cases based on the results of the outcome of those cases.

Companies have the same power as any other person. The only power they have, is the power you willingly give them. Geo gave them their power by agreeing to their terms and continued to use their content. Sony has no power over me, and can't sue me, because I haven't broke my end of the deal which I agreed to.

No, he wasn't JUST trying to use his PS3 however he wanted. Nothing would've ever happened had he JUST did that. What he tried to do was distribute a way for EVERYBODY to use their PS3 how they wanted, essentially allowing EVERYBODY to pirate games how they wanted.

EDIT: Being a prisoner of war is a lot different from being a hacker. They're two completely different situations, and can not be compared. I didn't dodge the question.

I know I know, I wasn't arguing back at you. I was more like collaborating with your post and just showing these fools why Sony needs to and wants to defend themselves so badly. The release of Geo's hack is TREMENDOUSLY going to hurt their profits as game sales are where the majority of Sony's PS3 revenue comes from and games can now be pirated very easily.

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet, but the US cannot extradite Geo due to this being a CIVIL case.

Definition of International Extradition - This term refers to a formal international process whereby a person found in one country is surrendered to another country for the administration of punishment if the person has already been tried and found guilty and sentenced or for extradited for trial if the person is wanted to stand trial for a crime. There is no such thing as extradition for civil matters, it has to be criminal.

I don't see any other corporations head hunting anonymous losers, why GeoHot?

It's not like what he did was revolutionary, no?

I mean come on, this guy basically did what millions of others have done with cell phones and many other electronic devices, they altered them, big deal!

If you want to sue the guy for hacking your system, hey more power to ya, but if you think it will end hacking or any other illegal stuff going on, you are only kidding yourself!

Remember the Law doesn't prevent illegal activities, it may deter it or even profit greatly from it, but stopping it it cannot... To me the legal system is all about getting paid, and when it comes to justice, that chic with the blindfold on, she doesn't care who puts money in her pocket, justice is for sale...

I take full responsibility for my actions. That doesn't mean I'm going to stand still and make myself an easy target when I do not think I have done anything wrong.
If he didn't do anything wrong, he shouldn't have run.
