OC 6950 hit 60C on 1st Vreg using 1.231V, whats their temp limit, thats seems HIGH

OCing my non-REF sapphire 6950 2GB using CCC +20%, MSIAB for volts, TRIXX for the CPU/VRAM

Pay close ACTUNG to the FAN SPEED when switching between TRIXX and MSIAB, hitting 'apply' in 1 changes it in the other

about 908 is where it starts locking up GTA4 and needing volts, 1st I thought it was the VRAM at 1320, but no its the 908 at 1.1V

So far I've had it to 970/1370 @ 1.231V, and Crysis W. crashed, so I tried 970/1350, same V, crashed in-game again, so as I thought it needs for +V for 970.

But that got the 1st of 2 Vregulator temps in GPUZ 0.5.2 to 60C

When at 1.1V and 60% fan, but they aren't in contact with the cooler, its about 37C, it idles about 25C

the 2nd Vreg was 27C, which is also its idle temp

GPUZ says it was using 82.0 Amps, thats crazy.

So what temp Vreg SHOULD I NEVER CROSS

And using GTA4 works pretty good as a test bed, it freezes, and, and it kicks out to Win7, hit start keyboard button to get desktop and mouse, then adjust the OC, and click back into GTA4, because its still running. When the OC crashed during cut-scenes, the game got messed up.

Whereas CrysisW locks up, alt-tab out, the you have to 'close the program'

In GPUZ 0.5.2 they do

That was from in CrysisW when it crashed

But NOTE THAT the all those GPU temps in game were only about 52C, those

74C 74.5...81.5C GPU temps only happened because the FAN SPEED went to default of 21% for a brief moment when the game locked up.

The fan was set to 65% the whole time.

Those are different spots on the gpu afaik. If you want to know what the vrm temp is, you're gonna need an infared thermometer.

No

Those are all on die temps, core/shader/mem controller, in that order.

If your system is crashing, it's an unstable speed, be system or gpu.

82 A * ~1.23w = 100.86 watts not that bad really, unless thats idle.

Well all the GPU temps are about the same 49-55C in games

About 49C at 910/1320 @1.1V, with the 'VReg Temperature1' about 37C

Up to ~55C at 970/1370 @1.231V and thats what got that 'VReg Temperature1' to 60C

So it has the biggest response to the volts

I'm going to email sapphire and ask them where that 'VReg Temperature1' sensor is.

Oh brainfart, I didn't even see those bottom temps.

Those are good to the 120°c range, throttling occurs around there.

Ah, i get it now. You're on the revised board with vrms that gpuz supports TI DrMOS. Reference cards with the digital Volterra's are not supported under gpuz.
