Any suggestions on a mobo cpu ram and video card? I have a Noctua NH-D14 cooler to put on whatever I get. Attachment 201614

Loyalty?

I've been a big fan of Asus mobo's, when my brother first built his own comp used an asus A8V (6 years ago), then my first comp used the extreme striker(4 years ago), and currently have the rampage 3 extreme (8 months ago). Never had a problem with any of them and all are still working perfectly

No loyalty this is my first build.... As for budget I will just say I'm not going to spend 1,000 on a cpu and I have no need for a sli/crossfire setup. I'm thinking a 580 or a 6970 depending on the platform

1000 on just the cpu, or 1000 in general? If you get the 580 that leaves 500 for the cpu mobo and ram, which could get you a decent SB build, get the i7 2500 for ~ 200, 8 gigs of ram ~ 100, and leaves ~200 for a mobo

I figured on spending more than a thousand on all of it I just don't want to spend that on just a cpu.

Are you willing to hold out for just a little longer? Because Bulldozer should be released relatively soon.

+1 for SB build!! but there is no such thing as the i7 2500.... it should be i5. but i would say get the 2500k instead of the non-k because this is ocn!!! gotta overclock to 4.8ghz or higher and to do that u need a k series cpu! i suggest the p67 fatality motherboard from asrock. Ram i would just go with 4gb of dual channel 1600mhz ram thats all u need graphics card id say cf of two 6950 2gb or just one 580.

I know that board is built with more/better power phases than the previous MSI boards that used to light on fire when overclocked, but if it were me I would wait until the true AM3+ boards are released.
